So I went GC yesterday and I played a 20th Silo. *UPDATE* *UPDATE*

You know, they have this nice slightly quilted RW board, non-trem non-piezo, non-matching one that I have had my eye on for a while. Because of all the chatter on here and BP's proclamations regarding this guitar, I wanted to give it a go - but a real go - not just a 10 minute spin. SO, I played it for about an hour and a half yesterday through all kinds of amps. Now, I really like another guitar that I've been using for my no. 1 lately - a PRS Navarro. Don't get me wrong - I love my AL and my JP too, but I've been really getting off on the bite the PRS has been giving me.

SO, I played the 20th, and every single word of praise that EBMM has been giving this thing is not only well deserved, but may actually be an understatement as to the quality of this guitar. I have never been so impressed with any guitar I have ever put my hands on! The clarity and bite this guitar produced while maintaining it's growl is unparalleled. Just phenomenal tone. Like I said, I tried it through a lot of amps, and I really dug it through a Marshall 1974x combo and (here's the surprising part - especially for me) through a Mesa Boogie Stiletto. WOW!!!   Now, I am not, by any stretch, a Mesa fan, but dang! It just rocked awesome with the Silo! AND, the tones coming out of that Marshall with the Silo - wowee!! I hope someday I can get my hands on one of these for good - I imagine it would juts kill through my Orange Rockerverb!

SO, what about in comparison to my current no. 1? Well, I played it side by side with a CU24 (same thing as a Navarro without the white paint) and the Silo had so much more clarity, so much more bite, so much more lyricism - it was really no contest. Now, the PRS was very good - but man, the 20th just rocked in a much different way - I think "lyrical" (as bas a word as that is to describe guitar tone  ) really describes accurately how I felt listening to the tone on this beast. Just blew me away!

BP & crew - I am very very impressed! The 20th Silo is a classic for sure. Kunucks - if you've got a chance to pick up one of these bad boys - DO IT! You will not regret it.

And BP & crew - thanks for the splendid Sunday afternoon! :D

Indeed the 20th is one massive tone monster. It is the one guitar in local shop that I can not even look at for fear of depleting my bank account and considering trading any piece of gear .... even those I consider sacred (my matching Balls).:D ;)

So, when are you gonna be the proud owner? :D

THe secret is in the tone blick and maple top.

If you kliked it so much......How come you didnt buy it?

GC would hate me advertising this but if there is still on ein your neighborhood store ...grind on them because they probably dont know what it is and dont like inventory sitting in the store this long. Same with the 30th Stingrays.....if you find one be aggressive and you will probably get a killer deal. It will be shop worn...if you want a pristine one guys like Pete will take real good care of you and it will be perfect.

Well,

buying guitars in my household is quite a delicate procedure! :D Believe me, I want this one - now I am going to strategize (not an actual word, but clearly a derivative of "strategery") on how to make it happen - something else will have to go, sad, but true. And my wife is currently 6 months pregnant with no. 3, so things are very delicate! :D Seriously though, she's a great gal - I couldn't have done better. Working the deal for this new one - that's gonna take some effort on my part.

And BP - thanks again for making the 20ths!!! Just awesome! :)

Nice thread - so when are you selling the AL? ;)

- oh and if so we will have to tear off your eppulettes, snap your sword, deactivate the ring and develop a new handshake - The r&d on that is astronomical!!

LOL!

Oh man, I hope it doesn't come to that (selling the AL) - but it might! I just joined a band (for the 1st time ever) and the music is definitely in the 2 HB mode. The JP sounds dang good for what we are doing, and the PRS works great as well. I'd really like to have that 20th as my feature guit though. It would be perfect. The tone Spud!! Damn. With the 20th and the JP - I'd be set for this new band very well. Besides, it's not like the AL model is going away any time soon! The 20th, now that's a different story.......

You can't beat the 20th man...I would jump on it...I would trade the PRS. That's just me though...It's hard to let go a guitar that you have been attached to for a long time, but it can be done...

I really dig the PRS - AND (probably more importantly) it was a gift to me by a very happy friend/client. I've got some sentimental attachment to it, so it's gonna stay. Now, if my AL had a RW neck..... :p :p

Seriously, I would be so jonesd to have that 20th!

If you hold out for a BFR Al, then maybe you'll get the best of both worlds!

Yeah - except that's probably gonna cost a great deal more than what I can get the 20th for! Maybe that will be the one to sell the PRS for............

I think it's in the handbook alphabetically right before: "Dunderheaded Pickguard Choice and Consequences Thereof", :p :p :p

Touche' from the man still holding on to his Ibanez Universe, the pickguard of which is unimportant as it would still be an Ibanez, while considering selling the Al, the pickguard change of which was suggested by WHOM :p :p :p

Color is always subjective to the viewer but, since you asked, I'm with Shnook here. I do prefer the black to the white pups in this circumstance because they go well with the dark outside of the burst. But I think the plain white guard is a little too stark for the overall look.

Now - if you tort that baby out with the black accoutrements- mmmmmmm thats good jam.;)

Norrin, DO IT DO IT, or you will regret it later, and BP is right, GC has no idea of the fine guitar the 20th is, GC had one at one of the stores, and I was telling the sales guy about it and he could of cared less, so you can get a great deal I am sure. DO IT!
