I played a gig with two other bands to whom I'd never been exposed. After we played, the bassists from both bands and one other unidentified soul came up to the stage to tell me how awesome "that MusicMan bass" sounds. That would be my Blue Pearl Bongo 4HH.

Thought I'd share, because I'm in a happy-bass-story-sharing kind of mood.

I usually get beaten up when I expose myself to other bands. And I never get compliments.

Last Wednesday night one of girl singer did not want to show up to gig so band leader hired a bass player to replace her since I am primary a guitar player playing a bass and the temp bass player played my Bongo 4HH and he would not want to play his own bass because Bongo sounded so much better than his P-Bass. Well since I know the guy pretty well and he offered me couple lines so I let him play my brand new Bongo all night long and he wants to get one also:D

Could I have some of that inspiration back? I seem to be in a bit of a nadir in that area.

Anyway, what I do is this: turn the treble all the way down, bass at center, high and low mids about 70% while using stainless roundwound 40-100 stringses. That combination seems to tickle all my happy spots. However, it should be noted that several of my happy spots are either badly misinformed or altogether out-to-lunch.
