It's a "rite of passage" - and in the end you have the EBMM you want exactly the way you want it...

Always worth the wait! :)

I've got two on order and somehow that makes the wait easier... I don't know why.

Chuck, it's easier for you for the same reason it's easier for me.

WE HAVE A BUTTLOAD OF OTHER MUSICMAN BASSES.

Just thought I'd point that out.

the waiting on a 20th SR5,

This is my first EBMM. My frettted bass is a cheap I brand bass which I bought until I can decide on which fretted one to buy. So, yes, the wait is rough!

BTW, picking the fretless SR was a no brainer. I've always loved the classic mwah and warm tone that it gets. :D

There is no way 99 bottles of beer would get you through your wait Chuck. :D
No fun watching you suffer.

Lightweights!!!! I'm waiting for the 20th ann SR5. Half a year if I'm lucky!

Here's a little song I found that you will appreciate KenntB:

To the tune of The Beatles - Norwegian Wood

I once had a drink
Or should I say
It once had me

I went to the pub
Isn't it queer?
Norwegian Beer

I purchased a drink and imbibed many more for a dare
Then I looked below me and noticed there wasn't a chair

I sat on the floor
Nursing my rear
Drinking my beer

I stayed until two
Then my friends led
Me home to bed

They told me I worked in the morning and started to laugh
I told them I didn't and promptly collapsed on the path

And when I awoke
I was at home
This beer had thrown

So I fetched a mop
Isn't it queer?
Norwegian Beer

Hope you like it! :D

Congratulations on the quick production/shipping time, ptg!

Wouldn't you know it? A couple of weeks ago, I ordered almost exactly the same bass as you, except I went for the basic black pickguard. Did you go for the 2- or 3-band EQ? How about the piezo?

I actually ended up renting a fretless SR4 just to work on my chops while I'm waiting. The problem is, I'm loving this rental an awful lot right now. I'm pretty sure the one I have on order will still be better, though.

Hi Winston - I should have said 4 more weeks to wait. I ordered the bass somewhere around December. (Weird, I can't remember the date right now. )

I went for the 3-band EQ. The only reason was because I played a used one in a store and loved the sound and that had a 3-band. I figured it will give me a little more versatility. Someone said the 3-band had a little less bottom end but I couldn't verify it so I went with what I heard.

The same applies to the piezo. I didn't get it because I couldn't hear it first. I was not aware of this forum when I bought the instrument so I didn't want to spend the extra $ on a risk.

What did you get?

What kind of production date did you get? I'll wait it out with you! (Do they sing 99 bottles of beer on the wall in BC?) At least you have a rental in the meantime.

By the way, I don't know what you string with but I was told (and did a thread on this forum) that the factory fretless are strung with rounds. So if you play with flats (as I do) be prepared to restring when you first get it.

Hey, ptg.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought you somehow managed to slip into a production schedule loophole of some sort and was magically fast-tracked. Four more weeks, eh? You must be starting to get a bit antsy by now. I'm sure in three or four months I'll be fit to be tied.

My order is for an unlined fretless SR4 in honeyburst with the 3-band EQ and the piezo option. I opted for the simple black pickguard, though. I chose the 3-band EQ because my other Ray (a fretted one with maple board) has it and I really like it. The rental bass I'm playing now has the 2-band EQ. I've read that the 2-band actually has better mid tweaking possibilities, but, quite frankly, I'm not really warming up to it. I'm definitely glad I ordered the 3-band. And, as for the piezo, like you, I didn't have a chance to actually hear what it can do. But, I figured that since I'm shelling out all that cash, why not load it up with the works? (Heh heh.)

The rental I'm currently playing has rounds on it. I'd restring to rounds almost immediately anyway. I just really prefer their sound on any kind of bass.

So, it looks like we'll be waiting this one out together. I can hardly wait for you to post pics and a review when you receive your Ray. That way, I can live vicariously through you until I get mine!

Hang in there. I know it will be worth the wait.
