So... Thinking of another 7 now.

The JPX has me hooked. Big time. I've not touched my 6 strings much since I got it. The funny thing is, the JPX isn't my first 7 string. But it's so far the most inspiring 7 string I've ever played/owned.

So much so, I know I said the hunt was over, but I want another one. But I'm not going for another other brand, or model. It HAS to be a JP7 for sure now.

What can I get that has the same feel of the JPX (meaning, the larger frets), but a different guitar? I think there's only the DD2JP7 right? Is the Stealth with the smaller frets? or the larger ones? Because if the Stealth comes with the larger ones, then that's probably IT for me.

Options:
1. Dargie 2 JP7 (Not sure if this is available)
2. JP7 Stealth (really leaning towards this one)
3. Another JPX. (Though the window is closed for the roasted maple...)
4. Wait for NAMM 2011 and see what new colours the JPX might be available in?

Suggestions?

No, totally kidding, but I think despite how enamored you are with the JPX7 right now, giving time to work through it, figure it out, bond and reflect on it would give you a more appropriate position on what you want in your next 7 stringer. And it never hurts to wait for potential updates on finishes, etc when NAMM rolls around.

My advice is to wait it out a bit. Plus, you're making me jealous with these awesome NGD's!

Hahaha... Yeah. I think the best bet is to wait till NAMM comes. Failing which, I really think the JP7 Stealth is my best bet, it'll be like a bigger sounding matte version of the JPX with a scoop!

But you're right. I'm totally in love with the JPX7. Heh... Totally didn't expect to be.

ONLY the JPX comes with the large frets. All other JP models have the smaller frets.

Another reason the JPX is the greatest guitar/battleaxe ever made.

The DD2 had the ebony board, like the JPX, as well as the Caramel Apple Delight paint and the awesome oval inlays. But that's it. It retained the same frets on each model, thus the JPX is the only JP model guitar with those larger frets.

Another reason why my dream guitar is currently:
JPX with:
a new dargie finish
new, larger martini inlays
black hardware
unfinished maple or rosewood neck
ebony board
gamechanger

It's already been said, but the JPX is the only one with the larger frets, so my suggestion to you is to try to find out what dealer ordered a JPX7 roasted maple black sugar and boom, there's your next 7 with the only difference being the finish and the roasted neck.

Honestly, the JPX7 has sort of killed my GAS for any other 7, including the regular JP7 and the BFRJP7. It has to be significantly different enough, and an improvement on my preferences. The Roasted Maple is nice, but not enough for me to get into one just for the neck. I'd rather go for a rosted maple neck Silo Spec!
