---and this thread is back from the dead. i, too, have become completely enamored with Sapphire Black.

two things:

at the top of page 2 of this thread is a gorgeous single H Stingray. is that a moonstone pickguard?

also, if you look at sapphire black on the main site under any instrument, a Big Al shows up. WOW.

that's all.

Yaayyyy, go thread!

Sadly, I have moved on from Sapphire Black and am now torn between Cabernet Pearl or Blue Pearl for a B6, or maybe a 25th...

I just picked up an SR4 in Blue Pearl and I have yet to see a picture that shows how nice this colour really is, although MM main site is relatively close. Like adouglas mentioned earlier in the thread, it has a very fine sparkle to it but not enough to consider it a sparkle.

I personally think Blue Pearl would look great on a Bongo.

The real world is rapidly closing in on me and my choices are reducing day by day :D

Looks like I'm going to be buying a new car next month (due to family pressure) so the new bass fund is going be somewhat diminished. This has finally ruled out me buying a 25th (sob!).

However, all is not lost as I will still be able to go with the Bongo 6 - hurrah! Back to Plan A.

I have been subtly working on She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) - using all my 25 years of hard-won husbandly psychology - to make sure she is compliant to my wishes in this respect. I've been carefully asking her opinion on colours for a Bongo for some weeks, so she feels part of the whole process and will feel some ownership in the final decision. (Note: access to a wide selection of forum bass photos is crucially important here - thanks due to Brandt, Bass Central, markbass99 and countless others)

The end result is she's rejected all options presented to her except Cabernet Pearl, which would have been fine if I wasn't now tempted by the Blue Pearl

Anyway I may stick with the Cabby, since this will let me use all those "but you helped me choose it dear" lines when she sees the bank statements ;)

I will make a final decision at the London Music show this weekend, so I hope Blind Lemon is bringing a good selection of 6ers along to play with (and please hide the 25ths) :D

sapphire black is that elusive black that i keep seeing every where.. :)

as for the bass, cabernet pearl is growing on me every day.. i think you should honor the wishes of your other/better half :)

or just get that 25th that you will always curse for getting away :D

Cabernet Pearl is an interesting colour. I have seen it on a SR5 with an abalone pickguard and it looked great and I've seen it on a Bongo 6 and I didn't like it.

My personal favourites for the Bongo are Desert Gold (or now True Gold), Candy Apple Red, Blue Pearl and Sterling Silver. You almost wish that most of the colours were ugly so the choice would be easier! :D

When you'll get it, you will discover that Sapphire Black is quite the mysterious colour, as it morphs between gun metal gray with a slight hint of metallic to that very captivating sapphire blue/black typical of beemer cars. However mine also came with the same moonstone pickguard which is a beauty in itself but it was only when I fitted a white ice one that the bass really came alive with more definite contrast
