…. the Gamechanger?

Once I learned it was only available in 4 strings and only in black it dropped off my radar, but since all the buzz from last year it seems to have dropped off the face of the earth.

I was kind of hoping to see the offering expanded at NAMM.

Don´t have a clue how many of these that are ordered compared to the rest of the range ? It maybe is a bit over specified for us uncomplicated bassists, Good as a "House Bass" in a commercial recording studio environment i would think ? Also very expensive, Even more so in Europe once all the import duties have loaded on top,I try myself to hit the middle ground when buying gear, No entry level stuff or at the other extreme guitars made for lottery winners, Never the less the "Game Changer" is a very very good looking Bass and IMHO looks better than a Bongo or a "Big Al"...Now that "New Sabre" that is a different kettle of fish !! Think there´s going to be a big demand for that model.....:)

If MM can make the GC cheaply enough, maybe they should simply use it in all their electronics, in order to stand out from the crowd? Not that MM doesn't stand out already, but that's exactly what they are good at: The little extra, the difference between good and great.

The GC doesn't seem to wake that much interest as a separate product. Unlike desperate gimmicks from competitors, like a certain AT-200 thing, MM seems aimed at the more serious musician. In the same way, the GC is much more subtle than a robot guitar, or a guitar with a built-in synthesizer.

So the GC is not something that would appeal to gimmick-freaks. I can't picture the target demographic that would want to shell out lots of cash for it in itself. But if the GC was an integrated part of "The MM Package/The MM Experience" it would probably help lift the brand to yet another level of awesomeness.

Ok, that's jm2c. Enough from me now. I don't make guitars, I don't sell'em, and I don't even work with electronics (despite having a little education in the field), and I have no idea what it would cost to replace all the current electronics production lines with GC production lines, so I'm probably just musing/dreaming/talking out of my output jack.

But one can always dream ... :)

Jamie Humphries recently posted a video of him playing a gamechanger, and Dave Marks playing a g.c. bass:

I think it's an awesome innovation. It puts a huge amount of ability to tweak the instrument in the hands of people who love to tweak everything. The possibilities are mind boggling with all the series parallel and phase choices.

However, one also has to take into account that it only appeals to some people, who want that level of control and are willing to take the time to fully explore the tonal palette it offers.

As I already have a younger brother of TGC bass (reflex), ...I'm much more focused to the possible Bongo NAMM 2013. news?

How about that, if any?

NAMM is over. Nothing was announced. There is always a possibility of something being announced at Summer NAMM, but you never know.

My GC sees regular use, not that it's news from NAMM or anything. I'm still a very happy camper with it being black and a 4 string. If I could find a drop-D tuner for the E string to replace the newer lightweight tuner, it would see a little more live action.

I have a Producer friend in Tennessee that I spoke with tonight. I was talking to him about the Game Changer. He seemed pretty stoked about it so he wants me to send him the videos on it from Music Man. He is an amazing guitarist too so I'm sure he is going to love it.
