Maybe I overlooked someone saying it but any idea when these new Trace rigs will be out?

Andrew

...Now that's a great question, because, of everything I've heard, that seems to be something no one knows.

This has got me wanting the AH500-7 and a 1028H.

Suddenly, out of nowhere, inspired by a web page, Andrew decides his GK stuff sucks, and vows to get Trace stuff noone has even seen for real. That's faith, my man:D

based on my past experiences, I think your GK stuff would hold their owna against Trace:)

I love old Trace stuff but GK is where it's at baby!

A practice rig would never hurt though.

Someone spread the word when they hit stores. :)

Andrew

I agree. The stuff looks really attractive!:p But still, I have to hear it first before I put my ampeg/swr gear up for sale.:D

My guess is that the stuff will be debuted at NAMM.

Neither would I if I were an Ampeg player .. simply because, for that money, I'd have originally chosen Ampeg or Trace because it was what I wanted, so I'd be unlikely to change on a whim ...

Ampeg or Trace Elliot ... Ferrari or Maserati ?? .. its all down to personal taste methinx.

Ah, before his current Ampeg affiliation, I presume.:)

Yes. I remember wanting a TE rig back in my college days (around '91) 'cuz he was in all the TE magazine adds. That and the green illuminescence.

Not sure when he switched.

...Other than Mark King (Level 42) and Doug Wimbush, did anyone else well known use TE?
If I remember correctly, back in 1987-88 Stanley Clarke's bassist played Trace. Sorry - can't remember his name, just thet he was from New York, and played a 5 string, and was more impressive (to a bass player) than Stanley Clarke was.

The owner of Ashdown is Mark Gooday, former MD of Trace (left a couple of years before the Gibson takeover). The amps' workings are apparently designed by Clive Button who designed all the Trace lines.

Dave is right. I have had Ashdown since the company started. Basically I used to work in Essex where the old Trace factory and HQ used to be, so used Trace before what ever made the company split/sell up to Gibbo happened.
Then Ashdown located to North Essex and started production. I still used one of their first amps AMB 500 (a combo with 2x10) and she still kicks out big time with the SR5.
According to a friend of mine the latest Trace stuff is on a par with the old stuff before the company was taken over. So worth a look.
But if you are looking for this so called Brit sound head to Ashdown would be my recommendation. Lets face it Pino and Mr Entwistle cannot be that wrong.

My Trace gear has stood the test of time - it's not fancy but it is reliable and consistent, and has never (yet!) let me down. My main pieces are pre-green carpet era but they still get used a lot and they still deliver. Like 'radiotrib' I use a 1x15 combo and sometimes stand it on an additional 4x10 for a bit extra. I have just sold my old TE 4x10 combo (one of the very first ones I think) because I can't lift it anymore.... next amp i buy is going to be small and light.
