So what's your favorite EBMM guitar innovation??

Hey all,

I have really limited experience with the full product offering of EBMM guitars.....I own a SUB 1 and used to own a Silo.....but have never had the opportunity to play a EVH, Axis, Pet, Morse.....well, you get the picture.

So it got me thinking....the thing I love most about the SUB (and the thing I find most innovative about the guitar) is the amazing neck .....I can't even explain it...it just plays amazingly well. So I wanted to hear from other EBMM guitar owners.....what do you find most innovative about the EBMM guitar(s) that you own? If you're stumped on finding something particularly innovative about your guitar....what would be your single most favorite feature....??

for me it's also probably the neck. I've got a morse, petrucci and 2 twin axis SS's (sold my sub 1). I have a weird playing style and degeneritive arthritis so I have to have the action ABSURDLY low. MM's are the only guitars I have found that can handle the action being so remarkably low without incuring any damage, warping or other stupidity.

I think the most innovative thing about Music Man guitars is the truss rod adjustment. It is so incredibly easy it's amazing. No more stripped out allen head adjusters. No removing a cover from the headstock. No more removing the neck to adjust it. It's just awesome.

I really dig the major scoop in the body of the Petrucci. It gets your picking hand right in there where it has always wanted to be.

I also really like the tremolo on the Petrucci. It holds tune amazingly well, and you can rest your hand on it comfortbaly without getting your flesh torn!

The unfinished, oiled & waxed neck also kicks butt..

I could go on, and on..

To many to mention. Just the quality is good equally to every single guitar and if you have a prob it´s been taken care of it either here (got my fastest solution in 31 minutes))!!! or at the factory.
So just buy another one and you´ll be safe (and closer to the almighty!) )

The obvious things have been mentioned, of course - I too love the oil & wax finished neck; the uniquely designed, comfortable and smooth vintage trem; the easy and accessible truss rod adjustment wheel - but I'm equally enamoured of some of the less obvious touches, like the five bolt neck heel (that sucker will never move!) and the extra-long 2" strap button screws that won't strip or pull out. Excellent fretwork, quality hardware (in terms of knobs and switches), and the use of a good grade of plastic for the trem and control cavity plates are also indicative of the kind of attention EBMM give to their instruments. In my experience, very few other companies (maybe Hamer, maybe G&L) demonstrate a similar attention to detail in the design and construction of their guitars...

And personally, as an Axis lover, I'm particularly fond of the compact Axis form factor, including the very cool looking and practical 4x2 headstock...

Face it, these guitars rock!

hummmm let's see.......off the top of my head.....
best truss rod in the world......
headstock which sends all the strings straight to the tuner keys which increases tunning stability(alot) , & brings the 1st & 2nd string to pitch w/ less tension than the longer strat style headstock , and gets me on most planes i try for..........
the best quality control....
the sweetest neck profiles......
hot ass pickups.....
killer fretwork....
killer paint jobs.....
genuine customer service & pride in their work.....

trying to pick one is kinda like asking me which wheel on my truck is most important.....

p.s. looks to me like peavey really likes y'alls truss rods.........

I'm going to take a different approach and say the EVH model. The reason I choose that is that in 1991-2, I was still a pointy strat guy and it took the EVH model to bring me out of the 80s - it was a beautiful, functional guitar which has one of the best necks ever produced - I owe EBMM and EVH for changing the way I look at the guitar

The 4 + 2 headstock. It's one of those things where you go, "Now why didn't I think of that?" Functional, practical, and beautiful.

And while I'm at it, I completely agree with JimiD in describing the Axis body shape as a "modern classic." It is absolutely gorgeous. I don't know if that qualifies as an innovation, but Dudley deserves kudos for that if nothing else.

I don't know if it is Musicman or not, but the fact that I don't have to take my trem arm off to close my case was always the coolest thing to me. After years of unscrewing it, putting it away, closing case... then doing the reverse later. I also would say their method of 'finishing' a neck... I even swapped my old beater Kramer's neck for an unfinished after I'd had the Axis for a year or two. I can't play finished necks now, by choice. I feel very slow on them. I preach the oil/wax to anyone who will listen, and/or point them to a Musicman guitar.
