The last time I saw Dream Theater in concert John was using the D-Sonic and I really wouldn't have noticed if the thing didn't look visibly different.

I think if JP played the spoons we wouldn't really notice cause his tone is still HIS tone no matter what. I could see a difference in the pups, but JP will always sound like JP.

I have to say I just ordered a D-Sonic from the states for about £35 because of all this talk that it will be in JPs next guitar (if there is one)

I'm a sucker for being up to date with everything!

Oh, and I haven't even received my 2005 JP6 with Piezo limited edition Buttercream yet....:D

So then why would he change if it'll always sound the same? I understand your point but this would be the perfect place to see a change. In the hands of the same player.

I finally checked out a JP at a local GC the other day, it was used and someone put a Dimebucker in the bridge position. I didn't like that pickup at all, the guitar was delicious though.......

It was also cool to see this GC showcasing the EBMM's they have in the store. When you first walk in there was a EBMM 5 String bass directly in front of the entrance and there were plenty of the bass variety visible. Not too many for us 6 or 7 stringers but a Sub or two were floating around.

Yeh, I don't dig his tone as much on Octavarium as on Train of Thought, but live, in October, his tone absolutely slayed. So aggressive and middy, and thick.

I'm thinking I will put a D-Sonic in mine. EBMMJP+D-Sonic+Recto should be the t*ts.
