To get my Pinkburst AL routed out to take a trem ?

(ducks for cover as fellow forumites hurl things).

Just canvassing for opinion.
At this point, it's not a definite it's just that my relentless shabby Dave Gilmour impersonations are being hampered by the lack of a wiggle stick.

We're not talking Floyd you understand just a vintage type trem.

Mind you for the money that would cost I might be able to grab a tatty SUB1 with a trem and stick an SSS plate on it:confused:

The key thing is to keep it 4+2 (headstock that is)

Maybe that would be the way to go ?

That was hard to read!

Leave it for sure, get a used AL with trem.

I know what you're saying Rob but truth be told we've got Junior no2 on the way and much as I've checked the pockets in my other suits I'm not finding the spare cash for another AL.

I did think about looking to swap Pinky for a later AL but given that the later model ASS that I sold on to Komp definitely has a slimmer neck than my No1 Axis I'm reticent to swap that lovely baseball bat neck on Pinky for a later AL for fear that it would have less wood to wrap my banana like fingers around...

Doc, being an essential and practical sort, I always try to calculate loss of value of something due to a mod I have done. Buyers trust stock equipment more than those which are typically modded. I think your AL would lose significant resale value, should you add a trem setup. The only exception, I think, is if EBMM performed the mod using their stock parts. But I don't know if they'd do that.

It'll hurt the market value of a unique and beautiful guitar if you're ever going to sell it. If you're keeping it, why not.

Ask yourself if you'll want a BFR AL with a trem when they come out and want to sell the pinkie ...

Don't do it.
I modded a guitar many many years ago - still have it and have regretted it ever since.
Ya can't unscramble an egg!!

With the interest in Pinkburst AL's you'd get a good price for it or even a swop?

I had an old Charvel strat, raggedy but a real player. The tobacco sunburst was a third worn off from good ole use. I loaded with Fralins.. ok, so far. Then I decided I wanted it to look new, so I stripped of all that perfectly aged sunburst and painted it silver. Bleccch! :p I later sold it for a hundred bucks. The pickups were worth more than twice that. d'oh!

Nah, I figure these guys know what they're doing. If I want another configuration, I'd rather sell what I've got and use the bread toward what I want. Pickups, pickguards, any attachments not withstanding. But the wood is sacred. LOL

Just grinnin'.. we'll see. I've become a rosewood board convert, and rw ALs seem to pop up from time to time. I'm leaning pretty hard toward the standard SSS. Color: white/off-white, preferably dark pickguard, pups and twisty things. Yeah, I'm catching it .
