Although right now I am most drawn to Sterlings/SR5s (for the necks) Im sure I will eventually own one of each model. Alhough i think my next ebmmwill be a natural finish Sterling unlined fretless with piezo and tort guard. :) Who knows, though.

All joking on my part aside, each EBMM bass offers its own tone to the mix, and (IMHO) it's a good idea to have those different tones at your disposal.

Other than my two Fenders, the Ernie's are all I need in a bass.

Over at TB in those lovely 'if you could have 10 basses'' thread(s) I think ive assembled the perfect 10 for me... A nice percentage of them being EBMMs of course.

And all would add up to a grand total of a little over 20,000. Woot.

At the moment I'm really into my Ray and SUB. I just love 'em. However, a Bongo may call to me sometime in the future. I could be innocently meandering through my local guitar store and I hear my name being whispered and turn round to see who it is. There's nobody there but my eyes get fixed on the bass on the wall. It's a Bongo in all it's glory! Did she just call to me? It would be impolite not to take her down and give her a play. The salesperson makes me a great deal. I can't resist and produce my credit card.

Do you think my wife would buy that explanation? Of course not - you're never going to get a great deal from a salesperson!

I must add, as someone who owns a fretless Bongo, that they sound unbelievable. I would almost go as far as to say that my fretless Bongo is a slightly better bass than my fretted. I think the Bongo pre sounds even better with the fretless. I love my fretted but the fretless is just crazy good.

As far as I'm concerened man, let your fingers lead the way.

Play things, if they speak to you place an order... don't worry, the one you buy will also talk :)

But honestly, unless you play fretless and 5 string you don't NEED a hundred basses. I'd stick with the bongo you've already got for awhile unless you get sudden urges.

Greetings Brothers and Sisters,

OK, I'll come clean. I was up to 48 instruments and I had an experience take place that made me see the light. Can you say divorce? My instruments were "taken" and I had to come up with a list of what they were. Problem was, I couldn't remember was was in about half of the cases. With some, it had been more than a decade since I'd opened the case.

A sudden beam of light came down from the sky and slapped me up the side of the head. "Go Forth Greed-Boy--and see that the basses which don't live in your heart are given the chance to live in someone else's".

Since the bass gods are some powerful cats, and not to be messed with, I did as instructed. When I recovered my "possessions, I sold off all of my stuff with just a couple of exceptions. And, to be honest, I didn't miss any of them--although I wouldn't mind getting my VOX Phantom back.

My Bongo is an amazing bass and my first MM. It IS very difficult being a EB dealer and falling in love with the contents of every box that's opened, but I've come to grips with reality and the need to "chase the golden ring". I'll try to limit myself to three...... or maybe four.

Yeah, the Bongo preamp can really bring out a bunch of different textures with a fretless. And, the single coil and the piezos certainly don't hurt to coax out different sounds, either.

The seeds of recidivism seem properly planted and watered here, maybe even about to sprout.

I have some real SR5 love going for me but since getting the bongo 5 H I haven't been playing the SR5. Something about that killer sound coming out of that Bongo just says gig me.

I know I am not offering any real help on this one. But I would get another Bongo if I were looking.

Sprouting is sometimes good. Spring is about sprout. Spring (Rich takes a deep breath of the April morning air) is about sprouting.

Spring? Hmm.....sounds like Sterling, doesn't it?

May? Sting Ray? :^>)

Wasn't that the name of a famous movie. "A Bongo for all Seasons". Who was the leading man in that flick?

By the way, I'd like to nominate your phrase "Bongo, an ax for all Seasons" as the phrase of the day. :)

Good story, On another point, now that Monkee is getting an "H" bonger. I'm tempted to ask him if I can try it. If he"ll let me. I was content with my HSC until he had to order the H. Thanks JACK.

You are going to collect Bongos the H is the one to start with. Well unless you are worried that you won't want another one after playing it. :)

IMHO

Of course! Granted, there's a 4 month-ish wait until you can give it a shot...

We'll need to meet up with Gary, and anyone else local too, so we can get a group shot of all of the GA Bongos. :D
