The 58 Les Pauls (at the time) were not considered good guitars.

I'm not into this "old must be best" rhetoric. Things have moved on since those days . components, tolerances, etc etc.

My '36 Acoustic is nice to look at, has a great history - but modern acoustics would blow it away.

If we all felt that old was best, we'd still be driving model T's.

That's why I feel as though I have moved on from wanting to play old gibbys / Fenders (I still have my '73 Les Paul ) and swear by the modern technology and innovation of EB guitars.

I made a substantial offer on a solid black evh a couple of years back, and was just outbid on my final offer.
did that gold evh that was mentioned actually sell at $75k? I did not see a bid on the auction.
would like to see the Axis in the same gold as I am a little precious when it comes to my evh. has it ever been made in that colour I wonder? I much prefer the solid colour tops, as I really can't ding furniture top guitars without crying about it afterwards.
