Thanks guys - I see the thread got resurrected since a put hyperlinks to my guitars, in my signature.
Glen - there was an ounce of 9k gold that went into the castings. Of course that would be reduced somewhat by the machining so it won't make hardly any difference to the total weight.
Straycat - great idea. Pimp my Axe, West Axe Customs, Orange County Axes, American Hot ASS;)- but I'd hate to think what that would bring up on a Google search ha!
Shane- yeah I know what you mean and it does feelnice!
Zomby- I guess there is a market for these - my jeweller buddy did all the casting for me, and I did the machining which was a pain in the butt - you'd think gold would be easy to machine - man I was wrong.
Incidentally, I just used a "gold to sterling converter", and an ounce of gold goes for £279 !!!! I was lucky in that my work colleagues at the time donated their scrap gold - I don't think that I would be so lucky again, because there are a lot of adverts now wanting to buy your scrap gold.

The pickup selector switch has a small blob of super glue on it - just in case!!!

You should do some diamond inlays on that guitar with maybe some ruby on the twelfth fret!
If you're a little short moneywise you can use zirconias.

IDK.. seems too over the top to me. since I don't really care for gold unless it's used for conductive purposes. gold pickup poles, saddles, and wiring are great though

I was around my mates workshop today and we were reminiscing about this project and so we had a look at this old thread.

So just thought I'd bump it up to show some new members.

Still have me gold knobs !!!
