These are a couple Ernie Ball players that I feel are the next big things in fast and melodic music:

A Wilhelm Scream (Nitro Records, from New Bedford, MA)
listen

Much The Same (A-F Records, from Chicago, IL)
listen

They are both huge influences on my band as friends and as musicians. Check us out if you haven't already. We use all EB/MM gear and just released our debut album on Search and Rescue Records, "Beginning of the End Again".

The Swellers
listen

Enjoy!

Hey, Big Poppa, good to hear from you! Funny story about Comerica Park... the only Tigers game I've been to this year was when we climbed up the fence surrounding the park and watched the game for free clinging to the fence with a bunch of bums! Braves killed us like 6-1. Whatever.

Stuff with The Swellers is going well! Thanks to everyone involved with the Ernie Ball Stage, we had a very successful run on the Warped Tour, met some of our idols, and got to hang out with some great people. We could have died happy when Strung Out gave us a shoutout from the main stage.

With half the members of our band still in high school, we won't be a full time touring band until the summer of 2006, but we'll be weekend warriors till then. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Ernie Ball company put faith in us since day 1 (well, technically like day 352 or something) and we wouldn't be where we are without all of your support.

Which reminds me.. I gotta send a couple copies of our cd your way, so be on the lookout for a package from the mitten state! Next time you guys come out to Detroit, you always have a place to stay at our house if you are getting tired of hotels. Take care!

I have to admit, I love hotels, too. Rattlesnake sounds good as well. Until we strike that big deal, it'll be OUR treat!

I cant say enough good stuff about that band. first time i ever heard em was live in a small club in SF (bottom of the hill) ... i was BLOWN AWAY. here's a band ive never heard of and the guitarists are doing harmonized tapping stuff on the guitar while they sing backup.

whenever i try to explain what those guys sound like the first thing that comes to mind is "Face to Face meets Iron Maiden" :)

and just to be super cool they have a tshirts w/ leatherface from texas chainsaw on it :)

music f'in rules!

As most of you know we spend a lot of time and money on new talent. There are a few bands that we really take an interest in and the Swellers are one of them. Nick Has been really great and helped with this years battle. Nick just remember Big Poppa in the Silverdome parking lot when you hit it big!

Nick - i just checked you out on pure volume and you guys are fricking great!!!! if youre ever in San Francisco lemme know - we should play a show together.

Thanks a ton, man! I just listened to your band and I'm SO happy to hear that there is still upbeat punk rock still around! Reminds me of Fifteen meets Bad Religion. We'll definitely be in SF next summer and/or fall, so we'll keep in touch!

No worries, Big Poppa, it'll be impossible for us to forget about you since we'll be playing Ernie Ball gear for the rest of our career! If there is anything you ever need out this way, you know who to call. Thanks again for everything!

Hey Nick,

Glad to see you on the forum buddy.

I got a call from your fellow axeman in the Swellers yesterday. He is looking for an Albert Lee model!! Your new guitar should be done this week.

Hey Brian, good to see you, too.

I can't wait for my new super sport! It's gonna be hard deciding which one of mine to play first at shows, though. Funny thing is, we'll all be playing black and red music man guitars and basses when I play the black cherry ss!

No sign of the guitar yet. Hopefully this week!

Oh yeah, and Garrett already broke a tuning key off of this SUB1. It was a guitar-whip gone wrong and the guitar smacked headstock first into the ground. We were pretty embarassed until the crowd started going even crazier (thinking he smashed his guitar on purpose). Everything is fine except for the tuning peg, you'd think the neck would have snapped in two. These things are tough balls!

my new axis ss RULES. I need to get some photos taken and post them up on the forums soon...

I need to get some strap locks and graphite saddles on it soon, though, I play way too hard! I don't deserve to be playing guitars with such nice quilt tops! I made a resolution to clean my guitars once a week (seeing as my Pacific Blue Burst Axis has a new finish, called 'sweat stain').

Glad you are digging the axe! Thanks again for all your help with the Battle of the Bands this year. We have some exciting things planned for the 10th Battle, which we will need more of your help again!

I will call you later this week -
