Hey everyone looking to pick up a new Music Man as I have a Luke but the EMG's aren't doing it for me personally. I'm looking at a Silo Special w piezo, Albert Lee w MM90, Axis Super Sport w MM90 or regular buckers, or Albert Lee SSS.

I like to play everything from the Beatles to hard rock and in between "Oasis and The Lemonheads" I also will be playing through a Swart Space Tone STR Tweed "coming soon". I'd love to go with the MM90's as they seem to cover all the ground I'm looking for or unless you guys have other suggestions I'm open to conversation! Thanks knuckleheads in advance :)

Albert Lee with MM90 would be my preferred choice

it's really a matter os neck/wood/tone you like

Basically thats the 2 I'm in between right now or even considering an axis super sport with mm90's as well. Anyone else with their 2 cents to spare?

I would definitely checkout an AL HH if I were you, well to be honest I am waiting on mine to be delivered lol. Double buckers, Mahogany body, Rose wood neck,5 way switching and some great 60s style colors. There is a video of Blues Saraceno doing a nice demo of the guitar and showing all the tones you can pullout of this baby. Also the Reflex is definitely worth checking out with its almost endless tonal pallet.

those are the 2 guitars I use for live performance :)

ASS MM90 is a great guitar too but a bit less versatile than the 2 others

I strongly advise you to go for a MM90 AL...it'll be right up your alley and there's no way you're gonna be disappointed with it. :)

The only thing swaying me from the AL to the ASS is that I love the neck profile on the Luke and have heard only wonderful things about the Axis profile. Heard good things about the AL as well but heard the ASS is nicer....???

And I almost bought a new AL HH but after reading alot of reviews of it being dark I knew it wasnt for me. The MM90's seem like the best option for me tone wise just gotta choose the guitar that goes with them.

See I've never tried any other MusicMan guitars and wont get the chance to as the closest dealer is 5 hours away. I'm completely torn between the 2 but at least its down to 2 lol!

Yep, in the end you gotta plug the miles to make the right decision by trying all and then you know you got it right

Good luck, why not hire a Ferrari for the day and you will be happy to hit a 10 hr round trip, just make sure the guitar will fit :D I might just come with you LOL

Cheers

As an AL MM90 owner I can say that the guitar is sort of a fatter strat sound. It is not a 3 pickup LP Junior tone for example.
If you don't favor a Strat at all, you might should look at the HH version.

I actually do enjoy a Strat and Tele for that matter. Not really a huge HB guy but need the ability to play some gainy stuff but not metal. Just torn between the AL & the Axis as a matter of fact Mpcoluv your AL was on my target list but you bought it just before me making the guy an offer "you got this from a Toronto guy on Kijiji correct?"

It was the Toronto guitar but from Craigslist believe it or not.
The owner agreed to ship it to NC so I gladly bought it.
You will like a MM90 I suspect.
Jump in, the water is fine.

You got a beautiful AL there I love the colour! The only thing keeping the Axis with the mm90's in the mix is the smaller neck "I love the small Luke neck" other than that the AL does have a 5 way switch compared to the Axis 3 but I'd rather have 3 usable settings than a 5 way with only 3 which is what the Luke is to me anyways.
