Some questions about my Luke

Hi guys, new user here

I've had my Luke for quite a few years now, but I just recently stumbled upon this fine forum

Now, I've got two issues I'd like to get your opinions on..

First is regarding the action: I like a quite low action on my guitars and I feel I've managed to get the action on the Luke reasonably low. Thing is, when I'm bending on the high E string above the 12th fret I get this very slight choking or buzz (sorry, have no better way of describing it )

I'm guessing the Luke's neck has a slightly rounder radius than my other guitars, so the question is if this is something I just have to live with?

The second question kinda comes as a result of the first one; since I have lowered the saddles quite a bit to get the desired low action, the screws on the saddles are now hurting my picking hand
Does anyone have a quick fix for this, or do I have to swap the screws for shorter ones?

Hi MAKS and welcome to the forum.

I believe you can get some shorter grub screws from Ernie Ball Customer service. Don't quote me, but I believe that the size is M3 (customer service can confirm.)

It's not the norm for a Luke to choke out - otherwise Steve Lukather wouldn't play one ha!

Try raising the saddle a tad otherwise you may need just a minor fret dress and re crown.

It's really difficult to diagnose over the net - so best you take it to a good guitar man.

It's really not a big problem. The way it's set up at the moment it just chokes ever so slightly when doing 1 1/2 step bends or more.
I can live with that, no problemo
I just wanted to get the action as close as possible to my Ibbys, but I do realize that they are quite different animals

I rescued my poor Luke from a local guitar store some years ago. It wasn't in the best condition when I got it, it has a few dents and the tip of the trem-arm was missing, but they did offer me a great deal so I bought it.

Hee hee I have a JP6 a bit like that!!
I've given it some TLC and it's having some more at the mo.

I wouldn't know what the factory setup was like, since the good people at the store did a superb job at f@ckin it up he he

My original plan was to try to get crazy low action, but that made the guitar pretty much un-playable, so I decided to raise the action a little.

Anyway, I'll have a tech have a look at the frets, just in case
