An ex bandmate just called me to see if i'd be up to jam w/ his new band. Seems as tho their current bassist has another band that gets most of his attention... so, he called to see what I'm up to. He even asked "hey do you still have that blue bass with the crazy pickups?" and I said "ya, but now i have 6". LoL

Anyways... the band we were in together days ago, Resident13, did both pop-punk and metal-ish stuff. here's a couple really old clips from our "You Will Die" EP ...

Somehow (pop punk)

The Struggle (kinda metal)

This could be a lot of fun. Me and this dude get along well musically... we'll write a ska song then a metal song etc. Its good times. We'll see how it goes - but I might just be in 2 bands soon :)

i play w/ a pick almost all the time in a band situation but at home I usually play with my fingers to practice on finger picking, slap and tapping (since thats what i need to work on the most)

even during practice or gigs ill sometimes not use a pick... Steve Barr's seen me do that when he checked out my band a while ago when he was in SF. Its totally random: its not for certain songs or any calculated reason.

Arin and I met for drinks before his rehearsal, then I went over there to check them out for a few songs...

...for a first-time session, they were sounding pretty damn good!

And, Arin can play...pick or not.

thanks for coming out to check us out man. things started coming together too. i think we jammed for about 3 hours. it was fun. we eventually started playing some metal and it was a nice change from all the punk rock im used to. even played a inprov funk/ska/metal song with a bunch of slap bass followed by heavy bits and ska parts - completely random and fun

again... thanks for comin out. lemme know how that cab thing goes... and we should get beer n food some time this week whenever u have a chance - i owe ya a couple beers :)

What's Up Arin, those songs kick a$$ ! I just got home from my gig(thank god after all the Patron shots!) and checked out this thread and i'm glad I did. I can totally hear some Megadeth in that 2nd song........if you're not having fun in your other band you should definitely give this a try.

Will do! Going to drop off the dresser to the buyer in a couple of hours, then head up to Brentwood to pick up the Sunn 215BH; going to run the HH Ray through my new Ampeg SVT-350H...it should sound plenty BIG!

Cool hangin' last night...up for it again soon.

I have totally lost my pick playing, which prolly is just laziness on my part. That, and the fact that i don't have a band playing songs that would benefit from a pick.

You still with Victim nation? Website's down, and I can't find any info...

yup - still in victim nation. our singer/rhythm player has been studying for the BAR so we were on a lil break so he could get all his studying done... he had a review class that was on every weekday from 6pm -10pm or something... and weekends are hard to get everyone together. things with victim nation should be back on starting next week (the BAR exam was a few days ago)

Our website was a total pain in the arse. the hosting package was under the old bassist's name so the account expired. a little while ago we had to jump thru hoops to re-register the domain name for the same reason. we have the domain name back & we'll get a new hosting service w/ one of our names soon at which point ill redo the whole site.
