I thought Desert Gold really suited the Bongo well too. That and Candy Apple Red really look great on it. I've only seen Orange Firemist on a couple of Bongos and it too, looked really good. The more extreme colours seem to do well on the Bongo.

I never was a huge fan of Desert Gold. I like True Gold and Orange Fire Mist better. That being said, I like Medallion Gold best of all.

+1 = Medallion Gold!!!

I had an opportunity to get a Medallion Gold Bongo 4HH and didn't. Although I did later get a Sapphire Black Bongo 4HH, that Medallion Gold was so sweet!!!

Very cool, sitonmybass! Welcome and congrats on that beautiful Bongo, man. I looked long and hard at it before going with the Bongo 4H I have now - also Sterling Silver, and also from TPB. I'm glad you came to the forum. I strongly felt that one of us should end up with that bass ... and we did! :)

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. And even though TPB takes great pics & we've seem 'em, let's see some of your own, too!

What color pickguard is on your Sterling Silver Bongo 4? This inquiring mind (mindless) wants to know. By the way, I'm not "allowed" to play my new Bongo until July, because it's sort of an anniversary present from my wife. The only "present" factor is that she allowed me to get it. I played my original Bongo 5 HH for 4 years, so I know the experience well. I'm on a 5 night consecutive run this week and I may play my Sterling 5 tonight or possibly this weekend. Don't forget to tell me about your pickguard.

For now it's Blue Swirl. Here's a slideshow.

Love that combination! Beautiful bass. You have good taste.
I would keep that pickguard, that's hot!

Cool, thanks. Apparently we're among a minority who dig it. I ran a poll on black vs. blue swirl pickguards, based on the same pics. Out of the 13 who voted, 10 voted black. Didn't sway me any, though. :)

I said "for now" because I also want to see it with Black Ice.

Peace!

I have had and still have some with names.

1. A P mongrel I built from parts which was known as "The Fungo Bat Utility Bass".

2. Heinz the Wonder Bass, a trans-green 99 SR5 that's....been around.

3. The Flaming Biff, a custom one-off that BP did for me in 2005.

4. The "BPB" (big poppa bongo - the REAL one) that BP gave me.

5. "Inga", so named because I got her from Sweden. She's a Dargie HS Bongo fiver.

I named my new Bongo 5 in Sterling Silver the "bass-ship" after the "Jupiter 2" from the 60's TV show "Lost In Space," for those of us who are old enough to remember the show. The Bongo's futuristic shape combined with this color sparked this moment of inspiration. This is the first time I've ever named a bass...have I gone too far? Hello, anyone there, hello...?

I was never compelled to name one until recently, when I got this particular Sterling Silver Bongo 4H (check out my "signature"). It's such a badass, with such a distinct personality and presence, it's like it has a life of its own. So I named it after a mighty, ancient and enchanted sword from the Tolkien legendarium. Then I decided to do the same with my Orange Firemist SR4.
