Ok guys and gals.....I want your opinion on something, but I have pretty much made up my mind. I have been talking to a "music store" about a blue dawn Petrucci. In various e-mails, I got the "it's fully loaded with piezo, matching head stock and all the trimmings." Sounds great so far. I wanted pictures and maybe a web address to see what this store is about. No web address and no pics are available, what?!?! However, I could see the guitar on Ernie Ball's website. Yeah, no kidding dude! Anywho, I get to the quick of the matter and ask for the serial number on the guitar. Of course, I was gonna ask on of our wonderful mods to give me the 411 on this axe. Now I get an e-mail with the following answer "this is a brand new store stock guitar that we've had a couple of months all perfect and ready to go with all hang tags and paper work" Now, I was told this was brand new (only a couple of months old), not used. How can this be a brand new guitar only a couple of months old when they stopped making the color last year? Maybe brand new 1 year old, but a couple of months? Notice, still no serial number. By the way, their e-mail address is kinda funny too. Makes me think it is a "home business" type of deal. Bad news is, I got the address from our website at the build an instrument page. What's up with that? Mods, any thoughts? I will give you the info privately if you want.....I think someone is trying to hook ol' koogie with a bum deal:  By the way, thanks for letting me get this out. I don't want anyone to get jacked out of their hard earned dead presidents. Thoughts anybody?

Koogie2k,

What's the company, maybe someone on the boards has been hosed by them and could save you a bunch of grief.

If you don't want to share it here, send me a PM. I'm pretty good at locating people, places and things. I helped out a friend that got hosed on Ubid a year or so back. She finally got her money back in the end, but that sort of thing leaves a bad taste in people and the people they talk to.

Good luck.

I would guess that either:

a> he has the guitar as described, but he's a lousy business person, and doesn't really want web business, and so isn't willing to go out of his way to get yours, or....

b> he thinks he can order the guitar you want once payment is received...

Probably the former. Some people just have no idea what it means to be customer oriented. Of course, I'm one of them, which is why I'm not in retail :p

My general rule of thumb is, if they're making you uneasy before the sale even happens, don't get involved any further...

Another possibility is that he has the guitar he says he has.

Only he's had it for quite some time. Like maybe over a year and thinks that by telling you that you may wonder why no one has bought the guitar in all that time if it's such a good guitar.

I bought a steve morse guitar in May '03 over the phone sight unseen brand new (I think) out of a store in utah. The guy there said he had the guitar "a couple of months". When I got it, ebmm gave me a born on date of '01.

The guitar arrived in perfect condition except for the jack was a bit loose and didn't hold the cord snugly. Minor fix. He also set it up nicely for me and threw in a dozen sets of strings. And a poster of luke, morse, and lee.

Be careful and good luck.

Thanks for the feedback. GWDavis, I think I will PM that to you to see what you come up with.

Bad business...I believe so. He has responded to all my e-mails fairly quick, but for some reason, avoids the serial number issue. That brought about the "BS" flag.

I posted about the discontinued color and was told in '03. I believe he may have received the guitar "a couple of months ago", but that kinda tells me someone had it before him. I really don't think it was made 3 to 6 months ago and he just received it.

JimiD, I think I will just let this "deal" pass. I was on that track anyhow. I just want this color real bad, but not bad enough to go in blind!

Thanks for the help.

I did a quick look at the other stuff this guy has bought. He also bought a line-6 rack mount pod, a line-6 floor board controller, a cd burner, an electric drum kit, and the piece de resitance: a Dokken tab book. Do check out the seller's feedback.

Thanks for looking out for me fellas! He bought that bad boy quick. Before I could even look at it! No problemo, I have another lead.

GWDavis, I got your e-mail and PM. Appreciate it. I will call them tomorrow just to see what's up. I have another lead. This time, I have family in the area. So, I can get some undercover work going on these cats! lol.

Thanks again for the help everyone!
