Jack my friend you are incorrect about one thing...That is THE bass not a twin. If I gave you a duplicate it would not be as special........Ask Dargin and Dudley.

Well this thread keeps getting better and better!

To Jack ~ A HUGE Congrats, again, for kicking ass as a moderator. I'm personally glad to call you my friend (along with the rest of you Forumites)!

To BP ~ It was way cool to witness the first Bongo-for-Jack presentation (live, I might add), but now I almost feel speechless (almost).

Having played that very same bass at the Open House was the deciding factor to buy a bass that, quite frankly, I couldn't bring myself to spend the money on beforehand.

As it's been said here, you do rock, Sir!

Wow , that is unbelievable. I don't post here as often as I should but I had to say that this world would be a better place if we could all take a page or two from the Big Poppa.

I believe that your bass has gone to a good home BP. Congrats all around.

Sometimes this place just makes me feel good about things. Thank you.

Wow am I ever late to the party. BP you are a class act all the way. Jack is a class act too.

I sure enjoy knowing all you folks make my days a lot more fun.

He he BP got Jack to playing round wounds. Slapping and popping there goes the lunch pail.

Good stuff guys.

It's not often that I'm speechless. I want to type this over and over:

"Aiy yi yi yi yi yi yi yi."

In the spirit of clear communication, I won't do that, however.

I do want to say that those of us who frequent this place understand BP's heart and generosity, and it isn't simply about this bass. It's about family, it's about friends and no one who was there will ever forget the biggest, bestest musical instrument party ever in SLO last year.

So even though I've raised many a glass in BP's honor, once or twice in BP's presence, it will be my priviledge to raise a Ketel One to him tonight.

And to you guys, too. I'm not even drunk and I love you guys.

Jack

PS: Yes, last night I had many comments from the band. "Oh, look, give him a bass with roundwounds and he gets all slappy and wanky." Don't worry, Tom, I'm not giving up my lunchpail just yet!

Is it possible to have a picture up on top, like DP? I think that pic should be up there. :D

Well, not a new thread but might I suggest:

The classics never go out of style...

:D
+1. To me, a natural finish ash StingRay, with black PG, is *THE* icon that says "MusicMan". Rosewood or maple equally. And with the black PG the icon hold ups even in the dual PU version cuz the overall imagery remains intact. My blank plank ash-with-black Ray [with mutes!!!] draws more comments than any 'fancier' or more showy [but less classic] ax in my herd.

OTOH, maybe BP rather wear a Bongo. Not only is a Bongo a Bongo [nuf said] but it's also the only EB bass that doesn't hint at pre-EB models. Maybe if BP gets a natural ash Bongo to emphasize continuity from pre-EB to EB [could be ash top and back over basswood], and if this ash sandwich sounds toadlee awzumn, maybe they might make a few more ...
or a few thousand, or just put it on the regular menu.

That pic is funny as hell!!!

BP, just go get the mahogany Bongo and start playing it. That's got to be one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen. And you don't have to wait for it to be manufactured! (Not that it would take very long to make one for the big boss anyway.)

The more I look at it , the more they both look like they just climbed brokeback mountain.

Not my intent at all, mind you. Just the pic of Jack from this thread, and the first pic of Sterling that came up on Google image search. I think it's from an old NAMM show where he was Howard Cosell.

Congrats Jack!

And thanks to everyone at EBMM for great instruments and a great forum. It's a pretty special place, and I, like the rest of us, really enjoy and appreciate it.
