I just ordered a Petrucci. I chose it over a 2004 Gibson SG Standard, it was only $875 used. The SG was $850 and still had plastic on it, from a friend who owns a shop. I know the SG is the better buy, but my last one I didn't bond with, and I liked the Petrucci I played in a store last year. I was looking for a ROCK guitar, with good cleans, great crunch, tuning stability, and a fast neck.

Can anyone tell me what I am in for, I just hope I like it cuz I couldn't play it first.

I have to agree with Colin. The SG may have been cheaper, but the better buy? I doubt it. I have a Gibson LP Custom which I haven't touched since I bought my JP. I think you'll be pleased with your choice...

As to what you are in for:
- great, versatile tone
- extremely easy setup
- fast, easy string changes and stable tuning
- light weight
- silky smooth, fast playing neck
.....

I could go on and on...

JP guitars freakin' rule! Of all the guitars I've owned over the years, I honestly can say I've bonded with this guitar like no other and I don't proclaim to play like JP (wish I could!) or am a huge DT fan. It' a well designed, great playing, great sounding rock guitar, JP and EBMM made one helluva collaboration on this one. You sure won't be disappointed.

Exactly. This is one of the best designed guitars I've ever played. It's just so darn comfortable too. Of course, that's true of most EBMM guitars - they are all just designed so extremely well. I wish I could have one of each. Maybe someday..........

the trick is don't sell them.

Why don't you just cover me with paper cuts and dip me in a vat of lemon juice?!?! :p

Don't worry, I know the Axis is gone, the JP is still with me and not going anywhere and an AL is on the way. Next up will be.......???? Heck I don't know, those dang Y2Ds are looking mighty sweet............:(

If that's what you're after then you've made a great choice!

I have been playing for 27 years now, have been through loads of guitars, have similar needs to your own and now only take my 2 Petrucci's out when gigging.

Looking forward to my third!:D

What colour are you getting?

I was seriously tempted to buy a dark gray (not sure the actual color name) JP with piezo at the FV guitar center a couple weeks back.

I'm a Luke player, but I really enjoyed playing it for about 45 minutes I was there. Super comfortable with nice tones. And no salesman bothered me. :D

But I'm sort of trying to kick the GAS habit right now.

it's a fine instrument that many people here swear by.

Does that toggle switch have a tip on it?
I couldn't get a original replacement at the time (1995), and without going into it here I probably wouldn't be able to unless I got one shipped from you guys in the states.
