I'm a big fan of PBasses. One of the few basses left on my GAS list is a '62 CS PBass.

And, it's not like he got a Warwick, or anything. Leo did design 'em both.

Enjoy!

While I enjoyed my P basses I got tired of them. Sold both of them. Still have a Fender Jazz that does alot for me but... SR 5 is the one that makes me great LOL
As said to each his own.

the big selling point was the 50 dollar in store, and the 50 dollar mail in rebate. defintely helped, plus the price was right.

i love my music man, but im happier with the sound of the p-bass.

im wondering if my music man will go up in price in the next few years since its a 2000 natural?

After you get the new wore off the P bass you may just find the the MM to be something to come back to. Hang onto good basses is my advice.

the jazz bass neck is to narrow/thin

the p-bass is pretty friggen diesel neck wise.

with the s-1 switch, the p can sound like the j with a bit of amp tweaking.

the main reason i liked the p, was whan at the store, i just plugged into my amp, and head, barely messed with the knobs, and it sounded good.

MusicMan ,Fender and G&L are all first cousins.....I just don't understand the bickering.I don't understand the Jazz vs P debate. They are really not all that different. And Fenders.....never was there a mass produced instrument with more variation from instrument to instrument. It seemed that no two felt the same . You would play through a rack of them to find "the one".Leo did some amazing designs and was never one to leave well enough alone. One of my favourites is the recent 51 re-issue.He did get it right the first time. I love the sound and feel of that bass (complete with covers a maple tugbar and TI flats)I believe in different basses for different sounds in different situations.I have not found one that can do it all.I like the fact that Leo's basses were blue collar instruments for the working musician and can be easily tweaked and adjusted with a minimum of fuss.My next bass will probably be a G&L 2500 just to round out the Leo stuff for me.

I'd agree, Morrow. My G&L P has been replaced as my main axe for now, but will never be sold. Or cleaned, for that matter. Sounds great the way it is.

Halifax, huh? Big Sloan fan here. Liked em better before they started playing BIG ROCK, though.
