I have to apologize for letting someone convince me that I should buy some D'Addario strings to put on my Stingray.I've been playing with Ernie Ball strings exclusively for a couple years.Last week,I went to local music store and the salesman,I don't know why decided that day that d'Addario's were the best strings of all time,he kept hassling me with that,so I took a pack. All excited, got back home to "have a new sound",I swear that I played for maximum 5 min. and then put back my super Slinkies on the SR,never going to happen again.Just wanted to share lol

I use Chrome flats on my other bass, but with my EBMM's supers are the way too go for me.

The EXLs sound good on passive traditional basses, but on an EB they lack the fullrange charakter of the slinkys.

I never tried the EB Flats because they are hard to get here, bt someone told me they are a lot like the Chromes. Is that true?

My favorites have been the Jamersons so far, but again on the old fashioned classics...

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the salesmen and the tyranny of evil store managers. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak customers through the valley of dodgy strings, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers with strings other than Ernie Ball's. And you will know my name is the Fran when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Heheheh, Fran, you really are on a different planet.

But I appreciated your use of this classic extract.

store mamagers

check your spelling ;) :p

BTW, weren't D'Addario using a StingRay on their sales ad for quite some time?

PS: EB Strings all the way! I just put a set of EB Group III flats on my fretless Ebony 'Ray.... just love the sound! Even more growl than with the Super Slinkys!

I usually don't discuss my string habits here... but I did throw the factory Slinks back on the 25th for a spell last weekend. I still don't favor the zing but can dial it out pretty well and am appreciating their booty and playability. Flats will go back on eventually... but if you haven't played Slinks recently, it's a lot of fun!

DR rounds aren't too bad on some basses, like my ricks. I did make the mistake of putting some DR's on one of my Bongos one time and took them off ten minutes later, Slinkys are the string for Bongos.

I just picked up a set of Thomastiks Flats. Was planning on using them on a vintage Fender. Anyone have any experience with them on Music man basses?

TIs sound great on Music Man basses IMHO especially on a fretless. Just be ready to raise your action a tad bit. They have notoriously low tension.

Give them a whirl and you can always take them back off. Give them a bit of time to break in though. Group III EB Chrome Flats work very nicely as well.
