Here in Europe EBMM guitars are VERY expensive. And here they are still - imo - insiders' tips.
I tried to get hold of a used AL at the time (end of 2007), but no chance. So I bought it from someone in the U.S. and it was still a bargain, considering the state the guitar was in, and considering that I had to - of course - pay custom fees and import sales tax.

I don't like pickup covers, since I've had them steal bite and treble and make the guitar squeal easily.

Actually I consider selling the original pickups and pickguard. But not now, I still have to figure out, if this is it.

in case you don't bond with it feel free to PM me :) (with MM90 please)

A Norton in the bridge, eh? That's a peculiar choice. I read a review a long time ago stating that the Norton isn't really suited to that placement. But if it sounds good to you, then who am I to say?

Nils,
imo the Norton is one of the most underrated pups of DiMarzio. And they are not far away from the custom Axis DiMarzios, tonewise. I believe they're closer than the Tonezone.
The Norton is a little less focused than the Axis pups, has a tiny bit more low end and a tiny bit more sizzle on top. And a little less output. but keep in mind, that I am comparing a basswood+maple guitar to a ash guitar! I can't interpret how this translates into sound.

I got hold of the used Norton a few weeks ago, and it was an F-spaced missing the threads on the mounting lugs - perfect for me. I gave it a try, installed it in my ASS and it worked out great. Then I stumbled across the AL 2H pickguards at pickguardheaven - so the decision was made, to convert the AL, since I found a pup, that really works great for me.

I can definitely recommend this pickup; since it sounds a bit broader, it covers clean and crunch sounds very good. There is a little hype going on at the DiMarzio forum about the Norton.
