Bass head, that is. And actually, it isn't even new. I got an older GK 400RB off of the Bay & hopefully it'll be here by Monday! It should suit me just fine since most of the places I play are relatively small venues. And it'll be an improvement over the F#nder combo amp I'm currently using. :D

And it'll be great until I can afford the Ampeg rig I want.

Any speaker cabinet recommendations for this little GK head? Something relatively lightweight & doesn't necessarily need to handle 8000 watts of power? I'm going to do some swapping with a buddy of mine & probably wind up with one of his unused Hartke 4x10 cabs for the time being.

Well man, you know I just got my new GK Neo 2 12 and I absolutely LOVE it! Funny situation though. I've been using a Hartke 4 10 just until I got this new cab and that thing couldn't handle anything below a low A. I'd say get a Neo. Check out www.rmcaudio.com if you decide to go that route. They have the best GK prices on the net.

I think i'll probably hunt for a 400RB and a 2 10 as a practice rig. That's last on my list though. Still got these,

GK Neo 1 15
HH SR5
HS SR5
Single H Bongo 5
Single H fretless SR5

That's why you buy GK Neo cabs. ;)

My 2 12 is 64lbs. Very nice weight if you ask me.

And it might be even better than the Ampeg PortaBass cabs, but I find the PBs come close to the really upmarket stuff, and weigh very little. I use various heads from 150 to 400W to run them.

The ones I use are, I believe, discontinued: 1x12 and 2x10, all with horns, all 4ohms. I think the 2x12 is still listed. My 1x12s weigh 23lb and the 2x10s weigh 32lb, so I doubt the PB 2x12 would approach 64lb. PB cabs also use neo' magnets.

Its not that bad. Its got wheels, and slides down stairs fairly easily on its side. Plus its got handles on both sides, so you can get a friend to help you. You have friends, right? :D:D:D
