i hate soundguys who think they will make your guitar sound right and take control about everything that is on stage.
our guitarsounds are alright, right guys?
just setup a good mic in front of the cab and please don´t touch the EQ on the guitarchannelstrip. just a low-cut and maybe a highcut but the rest please don´t touch.
ah and the stagevolume...no we are not too loud at all! it´s just right as it is.

i had been a power mad guitarist over the years... i gigged for a very short time with a huge fridge sized amp, bags of cables and stuff... even had some fancy switching units made for me by a rig builder so i could use different heads for different sounds... that huge rig still sounds so freakin good it's silly... but anytime i used it in a bar they freaked about the size of it before i even turned it on... i ended up cutting the 4x12, and started using a high powered 1x12 and it worked well in smaller places... in the end i got sick of hauling that rig myself even if i love that sound... so i took a page from a few friend's rigs and ended up using 1x12 combos and some cool effect units...
i've been lucky and got to do a few huge gigs... 10,000 people at one and i did it with a 1x12... (and no they had no clue who we were, we just knew someone putting the show on)... most of the clubs around here guitarists are using smaller amps, live off the stage, no mic'ing... drummers using smaller travel kits, lower volumes... pa used for vocals only... bar/club owners want their customers to hear each other somewhat... lol...

forgot to add that i once played the same club twice in a month that had a different sound guy at each show... the place had a huge pa that was meant more for semi large halls... who the heck sold them that pa over did it!!! anyways the first gig the sound guy was great... he just plugged in our own mic's mixed us quickly and we started the show... the following time a few weeks later there the next sound guy was being a huge pain... pain in the butt is being polite... he wanted us to play extra soft and quiet... turn our amps to face the walls, none of us could hear our instruments... he keep trying to add our instruments in the monitors but it just sucked... finally we just turned our gear around and did it the way we did the weeks before... after the show he was bitchin that none of the instruments were going thru the pa... he turned us all off and just mixed vocals... yet the guy 2 weeks before had us sounding great in minutes
