He means the fret ends stick out of the edges. They could be filed and easily taken care of (somewhat easily) but the neck bow is a more serious thing.

Our sorrows :(

Ok. After much thought and a long conversation with good ol' Tom. This bass' neck is fixable and damn it, i'm going to fix it!

Andrew

Good for you! I thought it was a bit extreme that the neck was 'permanently bowed'.

If it's past its warranty, then you've got nothing to lose by at least trying to correct it.

Good Luck!

It's amazing how many significant problems end up getting fixed after visiting this forum. Andrew, hopefully, yours is nothing more than a little too much relief in the neck. So you're one of them sparkle guys? Huh.

What could I do about the fret sprouting?

I've been working with this SR4 and it just seems to keep bowing back. Really frustrating. I think I just may send it back and buy me a rolls burgundy HSC SR5. Unless I find a sparkle SR5. What do you guys think?

You bought it used from a dealer? Bottom line is: if you're not happy, send it back. There are too many great SR4's out there that will put a big grin on your face.

I fear this may be my only option.

Should I send the SR4 back or should I order a HSC SR5?

The HSC would be rolls burgundy, tort, rosewood matching headstock.
