Is the only difference between the green one and white one just the paint (and $200.00).

I never painted anything but I imagine different finishes could cause such a disparity in price?

Hi Guys,

The Benji has 3 finish options. The Black and White are textured(like the SUB 1)
hence the 200 dollar price difference. The Madden Green is a metalflake finish and is more expensive to paint. Metallic green was the color of the first guitar(Silhouette Special) we built for him and Benji wanted to retain this finish.

In the times I have have been around Benji, i really do not think he is a closet shredder. Although I know he likes to play a few solo's now and then.

I am always amazed at the ability to write catchy tunes and to formulate them into hit songs. Benji is first and formost a songwriter, and selling some 5 or 6 millions records worldwide isn't half bad.

By the way a lot of the e-mails we get inquiring about his guitar is from young girls.

That's no surprise.
My daughter loves him too!
I try to feed her with general knowledge of what I know about him and the band... she doesn't care. :p

He's with the band Good Charlotte
They're popular with the younger crowd.

I read which band he is in, but I just wondered if it was just a US pop act, or whether they had crossed over to the UK at all.

Cant say that before this guitar came out I had ever heard of Good Charlotte either.

I don't know if they're US specific. I would say if you haven't heard of them, it's because they're not that great in my opinion.
I guess their first album did fairly good, but the second isn't?
Since he's a sig. EBMM artist I wanted to know about them so I downloaded some songs and vids to check them out. There's nothing there for me. My daughter likes them but I think it's only because they're currently popular.
This is not a pick on Benji thread!!!!!

It's no biggie, he probably just doesn't feel he needs one.
:D

Yeah you tend not to be concerned with stuff like that when all you need to do is pick up the phone and call Musicman and say you'd like a new signature guitar with a neck pickup for a change.

Yeah, there's no telling what Eddie Van Halen might have become had his original Frankenstein had a neck pickup...

To each his own.
I know a lot of EBMM faithfuls here have a problem with him and his choice for a signature guitar.
Oh well!

one pickup silhouette, inlay, done.......

For all of you judging.....what did it hurt who did it hurt and what did it cost? WSE still make what you like wie just made another

Very well said BP !!!! If people don't like the Benji model don't knock it, it's built too his specs, just buy another EBMM Model that meets your needs !!! EVH went back too playing the one humbucker charvel, and even come out with the signature model, why aren't people raggin' on him, could it possibly be they're not raggin' on him because it is Eddie. I don't know  . Just my 2 cents.

I remember when eddie use to sell records.

When I tried the Benji out at the GC in PHX i thought the neck was a little thicker than on my silos. Is the neck profile different?
Or is everything NorMal in that I don't know what I am talking about again?

The Benji shares the same neck profile as the SIL Special. There is no change in the carve.

The string gauge is set up with 12-52's

Cool! thanks D!

So the Silo special is neck profile is different than Silos? Yes?

JimiD! Could you do a list (sans EVH vs Axis) of differences between Silos and Slo Specials and Benji's Stay on Target

I usually play 9's but the 12's really rang out loud when I grabbed one at the high fret and made her sing.
