Hmm... okay, I don't know if this counts:
I looked my girlfriend in the eye and told her that I love her more than anything in the world and that she is the best thing that has ever happened to me in my life and that there's nothing I'd rather do than be with her.
Now I do that a lot... but ya I told her it was from Chuck and she thought that was really sweet. Yup. Happy Birthday Chuck! And great idea Big Poppa! I'm betting other people will have done nicer things though.

I didn't mean to hijack. I was going to delete that myself after he edited it.
I think your idea for Chuck is terrific and the whole concept did cross my mind many times today. It should be done on a regular basis and not just on Chuck's b-day!

What I did in honour of Chuck's 50th: I'll try and keep this short. Basically, I work a lot of hours in a week. Easily 80-100! It is therefore very difficult to get the little things in the daily schedule. It may not seem like it since I'm here a lot, but that's only because I can peak in while in between tasks or waiting on something. Anyways, since I work so much, it is very difficult to work in the good time with my wife and family. I made sure to give my wife extra one-on-one attention by sitting outside with her and having a nice long chat. I also made a conscious effort to do similar with my 3 kids. On top of that, I made a point to be extra pleasant with some clients who have been the opposite! Kill them with kindness I always say.
I know these things are by no means heroic acts of kindness compared to some things I'm sure other people do or have done, but in the lifestyle that is lived in this household, little moments are very hard to come by and the tiniest things make a huge difference.

Again, great idea Sterling! It's a great reminder to all of us. :)

i donated an old X-brand electric guitar I had laying around to the local Boys and Girls Club!! I also made it a point to call my grandma and talk Giants baseball today!! She is getting older and living far away i don't get to keep up with G-ma as much as I'd like. She used to take me to about 10 Giants games a year as a kid during the Will Clark era, fun times and cherished memories!! It was good to talk to grandma Helen!!

Chuck Happy Birthday....50's the new 30 Baby!!!

Many Kudo's to everybody, amazing work today!!!

This is coming in a bit late, but ...

I was stuck at the office late on Friday, but when I had the chance I went around the block and managed to help out a few seniors that needed help moving things, crossing the street, etc. Also handed out some change to the local homeless guys. I said "Happy Chuck Day" to everybody (got lots of confused looks, but hey).

Sort of O/T, but in the "feel good" vein-

It was a feel good weekend. Saturday day I hosted a charity poker tournament for a friend who has developed ALS (he's only 31 and the effect is devastating). We raised a ton of money and everybody who participated was extremely moved, esp. our friend.

And Sunday I spent the day helping a charity my girlfriend helps run ("The Corsage Project") to send girls with no money to their high school prom- local outfits donate dresses, cosmetics, jewelery, etc. Really has a positive effect to make hundreds of girls who don't have much feel like queen for a day.

So "good deed Chuck Friday" ran on for an entire weekend.

Beej,

One of my current business partners had a brother who died from ALS. At the time, he was the longest surviving case (9 years from diagnosis) but hopefully his record no longer stands. She flew him all over the world for treatments.. it is indeed a terrible disease. Sorry to hear about your friend.

As for the prom dresses, a former business partner of mine was married to a school teacher. Every year they would anonymously purchase prom dresses for some girls (in the school district where she taught) who could not afford them. I always thought it was a very nice idea.

Good on ya, Beej!

Extremely late posting this but I've been out of commission for a few days...I seem to have been stricken with a case of the "Ick!"...

My contribution to this thread was simply to tell the most important person in my life that she is the most important person in my life. I got a smile and a kiss for it.

She is, after all, the CFO and had to approve the purchase of my JP6!

Happy belated birthday Chuck!

I got in touch with my Father, after not speaking to him for almost 4 years and let him know that we are expecting our first child.

It's going to take a lot of time to re-build that bridge and things will never go back to the way they were, but it could be time to move onwards.

Happy (belated) Birthday Chuck.
