Even if it was an emergency, you could put it for sale here for much more and get it. I said it was fishy on the Duncan board and still think it is. Besides, getting a guitar that a) might be stolen or b) is sold only on pure desperation isn't 'a great deal'. It is bad juju.

I guess its bad juju if you take advantage of it...

If the guy is offering it at a low price (giving it away almost) then it´s his choice and I´d jump on the opportunity to buy it, keeping in mind it should be a legit deal obviously

Craigslist always seems fishy to me, most likely because of bad experiences and the website that looks like it belongs in the 80's!

And yea maybe the guy needs cash, while he claims only played once, I call bullish, maybe by him but someone has played that axe.

Great grab if its legit, best way is to get SN and have EB confirm DOB and original retailer. Also contact local police department to see if it is reported stolen, trust me I know these things from personal experience:)

I ran across an Engle special edition, Jackson KV2 USA and a PRS Artist at GC for lower than usual prices. Talked to my guys there and they told me they bought them all in and cheap from an 18 year old kid that was going off to college and didnt want them anymore. His dad bought them all for him when he was 17......

some people just have money to burn, some parents just like to spend on thier kids....My kids will get a squire until they can learn to play at a specific level.....

Maybe this is legit and its one of those situations.....

i spoke with him and he says he's selling it for a friend... and that someone was coming to take a look at 8pm...

i bet it's stolen and they don't know it yet.

Played it once and broke a string so selling it for a quarter of the new price. Nothing suspicious about that! They don't even mention that it is a SM-Y2D. It drives me nuts seeing that E string just dangling there.
I did notice that they posted a picture of the neck plate with the serial number. Can't quite read it but that doesn't seem like a wise move if it is stolen. I also noticed that the case looks dirty and the latches look like they may be a bit corroded so it looks like it may have been in storage for awhile. If I lived close I would check it out, perhaps with police backup! ;)

I'd suggest perhaps a SBMM or even the SUB. Way better bang for your buck :)

It's now been deleted from Craig's list. Someone either got the bargain of the century or meet with nice Mr federal police man

There are also the mis-identified guitars that come into GC and are sold at the misidentified price. I picked up one that goes for $400 on Craigslist all day long for $249 because they labeled it as a run-of-the-mill standard. Maybe someone labeled it as a SBMM Silo or something. I would not be surprised.

I just found another one on CL. A Steve Morse with trem (non floating) in blue. Looks immaculate for $600. Pity I'm in Australia :-(

Good luck Koogie, I hope you get it.

A guy in the Seymour forum bought the $500 Morse and has pictures of it after he spent time cleaning it up. It is immaculate. Lucky buy.
