Some people don't enjoy the spam from harmony central.

I'm not sure anyone really likes spam, but I really appreciate the TON of information (all free) to be found there. Most of my used stuff I have bought off there - much better than ebay IMO. Plus I always ask the seller's ebay username and check his history before buying - good combination.;)

I mean if your email/name gets used on harmony central, it has been my experience that the result is spam via email. There is a lot of info there, especially the user reviews.

basserama was (once again) yanking my chain for writing a review on HC and not using my name, I guess. And somehow insinuating something, not sure what, about "genuine" Bongo owners.

Hey Jack nice review on the Bongo 5. Couldn't have said it better myself. As you said, the two mid knobs really do give you the ultimate in shaping your sound.

So far I've just had one jam and one practice on my real rig - can't wait til Sunday service! I am officially in love with my Bongo:D woot!

Found them knobby things to be very useful again last night. Did a rehearsal with the band I'm playing with Saturday night; the drummer is Mister Technology, has a Mackie PA in his living room and some Roland V-Drums and so on, so we just sat around in his apt with cans on and rehearsed - very quiet but sounded good thru the headphones. (Plus he can very easily burn a tape/CD with that setup.)

Anyway, did I need a DI? Not really. 18V pre and those mid knobs were all I required to get a decent sound plugged straight in to the board.

Nice Job

Hi Jack

Not saying anything untoward about Bongo owners at all.

Just wanted to compliment you on all the hours you put into marketing for EBMM in this forum and externally also....you do a great job! If anyone did that much for a commercial company, I would put them on the payroll. A lot of us couldn't dedicate that much energy into something we weren't paid for - keep up the good work dude!

Well, I could certainly use gainful employment, I suppose. I rather doubt my services are worth much, given the Actual Famous People who play these basses.

I haven't seen any of those "Actual Famous People" posting on any of the sites. I agree that you do a lot to help market these basses. Your enthusiasm for the Bongo has certainly raised my curiosity about them. I haven't succumbed yet, but I probably would have never even considered them if it hadn't been for all of your positive commemts. I wonder what spectorbassguy has to add to this?

P.S. - I'm not so enamored with these artists that I blindly go out and buy what they endorse. It means more to me to hear from someone that plays it because they like it instead of because they're paid to play it.

I agree. I'm far more likely to go and investigate/buy something that is accepted at grass roots rather than take the word of some celebrity whose been given a bass, and money, by the manufacturers in return for using their name.

That's why feedback on Forums like this is so important. What we need here is realistic user feedback, not company marketing hype and that's what we get. Bovines feedback is so important because he is NOT in the pay of EB, and as an experienced bass player he genuinely believes in the Bongo.

Agreed Mobay. It was primarily Jack's enthusiasm that peaked my curiosity. I thought they were just another odd duck when I first saw them, but had to have one after all the wonderful comments of how it played. Jack even suggested I change my name. Still own two Spectors but they don't get any play time, especially with King Bongo in the house.

"Actual Famous People".....
........OK, I might as well come out with it; you all thought I was just spectorbassguy.....I'm actually Tony Levin!:p

Tony says.....Bongo Good! Buy one:D ....or three!:D :D :D

Maybe Flea will check out this post and come back home to Music Man. The Bongo just might be the bass to do it!;)

Hey here's me with my very first Bongo:

I will no longer respond to the ridiculous and false suggestion that I am somehow a "plant", that I secretly work for EBMM as some sort of marketing wiz, that my mission is to PRETEND to be a working bassist, a grass-roots guy while my REAL intent is to sell as many Bongos as possible.

It's just too stupid to continue to respond. And so, yes, I have deleted one post and my response. And you know what? Any other posts that suggest such silly nonsense will also be deleted.

I don't have the time nor the energy to deal with that crap, so no matter what you believe on this subject, keep it to yourself or I'll put the whammy on it and I don't much give a damn whether you (and you know who you are) like it or not.

Now then. Happy Mother's Day.

Hallelujah Brother Jack!! I too am a working stiff who has played on some national/international releases but still has to hold down a couple of "joe jobs" in between gigs and the odd singer/songwriter sessions but the fact is I was hunting for high end gear but found that they all didn't cut it and that EBMM is an amazing company that although I am in no way endorsed (but would love to be at some point..nudge nudge, wink, wink, grovel grovel...) :p the point is, is that Ernie Ball Music Man is a great company that makes, IMHO, some of the best basses on the market today. PERIOD! and that anyone who doesn't own one, well, i wouldn't trust them with my kids.:D

Cheers!

Can I get an AMEN?!?!?
