So Spud, this beauty is that POS that was covered in primer and was in all kinds of pieces?

Then I got some questions for ya.

Fire away sir - either via this thread or pm or e mail spud(at)web-links(dot)net

It was all in one piece when I got it and although having been played a lot, was in good shape. A few dings here and there but that was never gonna bother me at $600 for a fully loaded MD,a fraction of the price of a new one in the UK and I had dollars to hand when the pound to dollar exchange was VERY good. To be honest, although it wasn't a 100% top quality respray - it wasn't all bad.
It was resprayed in kind of a white pearl, but you could see the "green" of the mystic dream just peeking through when you got it in certain light conditions.
Here's an old photo of it just after I removed the paint off the headstock. (it looks taller in the photo than the other 'balls but that is because I photoshopped it into the photo of my 2 Als and EVH)

I very happy with the results. Initially I had the neck straight as an arrow with a low action up to fret 12 then the action "climbed" away.
I slackened the truss rod and given the neck relief and lowered the saddles so the action is low. I let a local "young gun" play it. He has an OLP Petrucci then recently bought a Les Paul. He's been asking me about it's progress for some time. He wished he had waited on the Les Paul because he would have made me an offer on it - and who knows what with all the nice models out recently and hopefully a trip to the States next year I might have accepted it.

It sounds great - all the electrics are fine after an initial problem with the piezo. I had snapped one of the wires going to the PCB on the trem block - a simple fix.- and thanks to Beej who supplied me with a wiring diagram after my request to CS ended up in their Spam folder.
The next thing I will do is to raise the bridge pickup via some packing (foam draught excluder from a horse box - don't ask!!!;))

Fsmith did me a big favour in getting me this for which I am eternally grateful.
