SR MM50 tension setup question

Well i consider me a expirienced player but i have a really big problem with my bass, so i have question for other SR5 owners. My problem is that i with my bend play in tune that is a semitone lower (d#) than standard tune, so i can't get enough tension on the strings. The result is that the sound isn't brilliant and tight as it should be.

So i ask a question: What should i do with my neck or a bridge, or are there special strings for this tuning?

What's "SR MM50 " I think I get the letters, but the 50?

Are you drop-tuning the whole bass? If so I can't really help as I've not tried it. Hopefully (if this IS the case) someone here can help you.

FWIW - I regularly drop tune my E to a D and I use a 10 gauge there with no probs.

No mate, i downtune the whole bass for a semitone.
That's the problem.

IMHO Tuning down a half step (or semitone) shouldn't require any changes to your set up. There's just not enough change in the string tension to affect the neck or the bridge.

I used to downtune all strings one semitone in my former band, but I was playing a 4string-bass. I bought some thicker strings to get the tension back, .50 - .110 I think, ( I wanted too keep the action low) and it worked just fine. Had to intonate the bass when changing the string-gauge of course haven't done the same thing with my SR5 though, but I'll guess it's the same thing

I think you're probably right in most cases, but if your action is very low then you might get "string-ratling" at the frets.. That's my experience anyway.

If I remember correctly, that's a production code. I've seen it a few times on eBay, usually from Guitar Center auctions.

I've tried thicker strings but that is not that....

I just love how my bass feels under my hands in a E tune with 40 - 100 strings. I have everything than - the punch end definition

IMO it does make quite a difference in tension. I just downtuned my Jazz a semitone for a bit and it certainly felt quite a bit looser.

Moving up a gauge, I think, that should solve the problem.
