i use my SR5 most when playing covers, due to singers droping the key of songs.but i have always felt at home with 4 strings.

I tell you what....I've always hated playing 5 strings, and never owned one for longer then a couple of weeks. The SR5 on the other hand is an amazing bass, and the longest I've owned a 5 string bass. The string spacing is not too close, and the 3 way switch gives it a little more versatility than an SR4. Might I also add that the neck is extremely comfortable to play on.

BP will tell you that real men play four strings.

I was a real man for a long, long time....but have decided that I am now, without any reservations at all, a fake man. I like fivers. I feel comfortable with one even if I never use a note below E. (But they do solve that "what do I do in D" problem, don't they?)

There's only one way to resolve the question, isn't there? Get yourself a fiver.

Jack

Now how often do you use your B string? I know a lot of people make the argument that one rarely uses the B string for certain styles of music, but the same could be said of the G string.

I've noticed the B string makes for a nice thumb rest when not in use!:D
