My G string sounds weaker than the others. A lot less volume. Action and pup height are set per EBMM spec. The Ray is currently strung with factory Slinkys, whatever gauge comes on the bass new (45-100, I think.)

Anyone else have this dilemma? Would going to a higher gauge, say a 50, help improve balance of output on the G? Does anyone use a certain brand of string that remedies this problem? And if I do go to higher gauge, would resetting intonation be fairly painless?

Thanks, in advance, for any advice.

I'll pre-empt what the first lot of advice will be, and advice you either give Customer Service a ring or drop them an email. They should be able to help you diagnose what's up better than we can.

Let us know how you get on :)

I wouldn't go changing strings to try to fix another problem. Call CS, you may have to part with it for awhile if it can't be diagonosed over the phone. Could be a defective pickup or something minor you are overlooking. It's under warranty, let the experts help you. ;)

I have exactly the same problem with my active SUB4, and I found lot of people complaining about low volume G string on the net...(with SR and SUB basses)

Even when slapping, the G string sounds somehow distant and non-present

At first I thought that was because of my crappy amp, but I found about 10 people complaining about the same problem

So, if You find anything out, please post in this forum...
