I shoot black basses on a white background, natural light only (no flash) and get pretty good results.

I think i managed to make it fractionally brighter by adjusting teh colors a little bit.

There is an option called Light Frame, that when turned on, makes everything really bright. It is awesome, except, it creates a shadow efect (except in reverse, it creates a white shadow) to the right of everything.

Maybe everything is turned up too high. Have you tried resetting all settings and starting over.

If i had money for a new monitor i would get one. Mine is cool, its 17" so its not bad but its kind of dark, even with brightness on full.

Stuff looks fine but black stuff looks dark.

Well,

It was more of an emergency purchase, as my old monitor died just this morning. How old is your monitor? My old one's picture got darker and darker before it bit the dust. I got a lot of years out of it, though.

...Hmmm...

I confess, mine was a dinosaur (since '97). It got me through high school, college, and now nine months living in Los Angeles. But, I would probably take it into the Geek Squad or something and have it checked. ;)

It really sucks not being able to use your computer because you can't SEE what you're doing.

Its okay no need to freak out. My brother IS geek squad, x1000. he builds computers and runs servers out of our basement.

There is nothing wrong with the monitor, really no need to blow it out of proportion, it isnt that bad at all.

I really didn't realize how dependant I am on my computer until I couldn't use it this morning.
