SR5 Strings (growly sound and slap)?

So, for all those of you who like modern punchy, the growly sound the SR5 makes, what kinds of strings are you using?

Brand and type are good answers.

Ernie ball slinky's are nickel roundwounds, correct?

Anybody try Roto's? DR's? Etc??

I use EB regular slinkies, really punchy when playing slap.

My vote went to roundwound nickel. After trying way too many different strings over the last year and a half, I've settled on Fodera Diamond Series guages .45 - .130. These are by far the best I've used, and I'll keep using them as long as I can get them (they are hard to come by here in Norway, so I usually have to order direct from Fodera).

Thanks, guys, keep em coming. FYI I did search the forums for "strings used on sr5 and MM" and surprisingly enough, they all discuss what strings people use on the sr5. But little mention of what kind of sound they like, so there's lots of what, but no why. Figured I'd focus the discussion to what exactly I'm looking to achieve.

I use the strings that the masters of MM elected to put on the bass at the factory.
Regular Slinky® 5-String 45-65-80-10-130 2836 (THE GREEN PACK)

They are very bright and punchy, which is an excellent compliment to the super low end that the pickups in the MM-SR5 bass can deliver. Those two factors provide the (kick in the nuts) that I want to deliver everytime I play.

As far as the sound l like...I play in 2 bands, plus I am working on a solo project, each of them requires a different sound. from very deep and clean jazz, to bright and shiny trash funk, or grungy rock and roll.
With the SR5, and my Ampeg Stack, I can get every one of those tones.

Oh yeah, if you slap your bass like it owes you money, these stings are perfect..Nice and bouncy like

Strings

I've tried a few, but my current faves are DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams. Whoa! What a fat sound.

For the MM snarl: EB strings

For mellower moments: TI jazz rounds (beautifully smooth strings for left hand slides)

The factory spec ones: Regular Slinky® 5-String 45-65-80-10-130.

Can't recommend the TIs enough. They're nickel coated rounds. The MM sound still comes through, but in a more subtle way. For example wit the stock strings I get that ringing mid-treble grind throughout a song. With the TIs it only comes through in the quieter parts of the song, ideal for solos etc.

Both, for the salp tone I use either DR Nickel or Stainless Lo Riders or Stock EB strings....Stainless

for the finger style funk and growl I use either Flatwound TI's or Rotosound Nickel 5 String sets.

There are many other's that I like but these are my favorites
