I know this has been talked about a lot here, but I can't help but comment on how good my SR5 sounds with the TI flats. Last Saturday was the first chance to play the Pearl Blue with Tort P/G SR5 at a gig and I had just put on the TIs last week. I really like the sound. I'll definitely be keeping it that way. And the plus side is that I don't have to change strings nearly as often as I was with the round wounds that I used to have on it. I still have rounds on my other 5 string should I decide that a particular song needs that sound though.

That's what I hate about my SR5. It sounds great with TIs but then it sounds great with slinkys, and I can't decide which one to use!!! I guess I'm gonna get another one.

Do you use a pick or your fingers with flats? I also cannot decide which sounds best - at least that doesn't require another bass :)

I use my fingers. I've never been able to use a pick. Something about being left handed and playing right handed I think. Just don't have enough coordination in my right hand to get the hang of using a pick.

I am naturally left handed but I play bass the same as everyone that's right handed. I fret with my left hand and pluck with my right.

Me too. I write and use a spoon left handed, but do everything else right handed. It's kinda weird.

I too am left handed and play right handed. Can pick if I want to but prefer fingers. And boy do the TI flats get the job done for me on my SR 5.

Another vote for SR5s with TI Flats. Heinz has worn them for many a year now, although I do admit that I'm not sure what he was up to while traveling around the continental United States.
