lots of people say that stainless steal strings wear out your frets quicker than nickel etc... personally ive been playing all my basses w/ stainless strings for years. my frets are still cool.

if i have to get a fretjob a year or 2 earlier that's fine. the tone i get from using stainless is worth it (for me).

so i say use what sounds best for you... sure, you might have to redo the frets a bit quicker but that's a few years down the road. its not like stainless strings will wear thru all your frets immediately

A certain brand of stainless steel strings that rhymes with "DR Hi-Beams" has never eaten my frets. Been using them for years.

I've never used steels before, but I've now playing with 2 guitarest, one with a tele and one with a strat, SOO bright!

so the steels give me the brightness I need to cut through
