Seems you need to order a fretless! :)

Just curious, do you know what the normal frets are? How is the sound different? Assume you tried different strings?

Thanks

I tried EB Hybrid Slinkies and DR MM (stainless steel), and the latter are my go-to strings. Those sound just abrasive, I need to drastically lower treble and high mid content to make it bearable and that in return does not sound good anymore.

Nickel strings were better, but I still thought my Stealth Bongo had a much nicer fret sound.

If it was possible to get this PDN with regular nickel frets, I'd buy one.

So who has ordered a bass in the Starry Night finish? Personally I pulled the trigger on a Bongo 4HH, it will go nicely with my Bongo 4HS Dargie Delight II.

Right now I am begging my wife to give the blessing on me ordering a Cutlass. Roasted birds eye maple necks are my weakness.

The wife is awesome! She saw me making my previous post a few minutes ago and gave me the blessing to order the Cutlass. Thank you Rochelle for giving the go ahead and thank you Pete Dubaldo for placing the order! I can't wait to have a first year production run bass that is also a limited edition bass too. I am stoked!

I wish I had the dosh for one. Everything I had (and some I didn't) went for the 40th Stingray.

But boy, what a finish.

I was close to ordering one, but this PDN is not quite there. If they had done a roasted maple fretboard with black hardware, it would be an easy choice.

Would have liked the black hardware as well, but was not a deal breaker for me. Wanted a fretless and ebony board was perfect for that.

My weakness is the roasted maple necks. I'm still kicking myself for not pulling the trigger one one during the Neptune blue run 2 years ago.

I put in for a Classic Stingray5 with matching headstock. If something else had sold I would have paired it with a silhouette bass, but it didn't happen in time. Looking forward to see how it comes out and especially how it sounds.

I like string-through, or at least having the option. I don't know if they are going to gloss the neck on this when they build it or not, but either way should be fine. I am more used to finished necks and really like what I've seen of roasted maple under gloss, but I'm not too concerned here.

I prefer the aesthetics of the classic 5, the shape of the pickguard on the "normal" one doesn't really do it for me. Not important or a deal breaker in either case, I just think the oval looks a little better.

Consensus seems to suggest the 2 band is more mellow, curious how that will play against the fingerboard and stainless frets. Love the look (kind of want to see a mockup with the headstock option), the board without face dots, and the idea of stainless steel frets (no direct experience).

This one's going to be an experiment, and the first time buying a new instrument from EBMM. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Normally I'm a solid color guy, but I could stand to glam it up a bit.
