Very little time tonight but I did get to rough cut the mahogany for the body. The mahogany was only 11 1/4" wide so I drew the body in inverted halves and was able to get the body cut in two pieces. Tomorrow, I'll joint the mating surfaces and glue them up. But that's only if I can re-saw and surface plane them down to about 1 1/8" thick first. The flamed maple I'm putting on top will be about 1/8" at least.

Anyway, here's an un-cowbell moment:

Hey Dave,

So I'm thinking a little farther down the road... Will *you* consider sparkle finishes?!?!?!

Sorry Jon... I couldn't help myself. ;)

Yes, even if I have to clean the gun myself!

Snuck out of the house long enough today to surface plane my mahogany body blanks to thickness (1 1/2" before the maple top), joint the halves and glue and clamp them. I also jointed my maple top halves. The pics below show the results. The flame doesn't come out in the pic because the wood is unfinished and dry.

Thanks.

Looks like you joined the flame maple nice. Kept the flame lines together with both pieces. Seems like it is coming along just fine...... :D

I just put up a down and dirty web site with all the pics and some text illustrating each step. Just go to:

www.downinfrontht.com and click on the links on the left side of the page. Going forward, I will be updating the web site instead of the thread.

Thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. You all are a bigger inspiration than you'll ever know.

That's real cool! If it helps you at all, pics of the assembly for my guitar are here http://andrapos.com/Custom.html - it does look like you have things pretty well under control :D
