My bass which just got set-up recently is now developing some mid neck fret buzz. I just wanted to double check here before I tried it myself--> should I loosen the trussrod on the neck some or go up on the action or get some heavier strings (45-105's EB stainless on there now) I think the buzzing came once I installed the EBs?

I just don't want to over tighten it, I don't know crap about anything I just play em :D.. thanks

Sounds like a quick neck adjustment. If you're suddenly buzzing in the middle frets where previously you weren't, I'd introduce a bit of relief in the neck to compensate...

Looking at the truss-rod wheel from the bridge to the headstock, give about a ¼ turn on the wheel counter-clockwise, and give the adjustment a bit of time to settle in (20 minutes?). If necessary, another ¼ turn should be all you need.

Let us know how you make out! :)

truss rod wheel.

definetly check the neck relief, my bongo moves toward the strings when the Ga
humidity is bad, I have to turn the truss rod wheel counter-clockwise about 1/3 of a turn to get it back without the buzz, EBMM did it right to make this feature one of the best things about their guitars.

thanks for the info, don't need to do a full set-up just figured I'd ask people to post with the quick fix which you guys did.

I tried to adjust a neck before and put some kind of a bad warp in it which I was told by the tech who got it after me that I basicly ruined the neck!

thanks again

That truss rod wheel is one of the most fantastic features of Ernie Ball instruments.

I use no more than a 1/4 turn per day.

I use the adjustment method at www.garywillis.com. It's worked like a dream with my Stingray and Sterling. I'm still trying to understand my Bongo's behaviour though: seems like the strings like to rattle off the frets no matter how I set it up. I'm still a relative n00b at this though, and there are subtleties.
