Stereo to Mono breakout box for JP6 guitar

Hi,

I have a JP6 with the piezo acoustic pickup. I want to run a single stereo cable to my pedalboard, and from there, have a box that splits to two mono connections -- one for my electric guitar setup, and then the other line can run to a second amp for my acoustic tone.

Anyone have some recommendations for breakout boxes that are nice and quiet?

Ernie Ball makes a piezo splitter box that does just that - I believe you have to run a ground lift/DI box also.

Get the EB splitter. It works like a charm.

Yeah, you can buy the EBMM or of you're so inclined, you can make one. Real simple to do. Google it and you'll find a ton of info. Given the cost though, it's probably easier to just buy the EBMM splitter.

+1 for Pete's advice.

I'm running the Ernie Ball 6190 Splitter Box on my pedalboard, and I take the piezo output into a DI box with a ground lift before sending the signal anywhere else. This helps eliminate hum if your magnetic pickup sound and piezo sound setups end up on two different electrical circuits with different grounds.

pete cornish makes that device and its ground isolated
otherwise you can have groundhum troubles (as i have).

i talked w/barber also but he recommended that cornish product cause its not easy to develope.

It's a great unit, but to be honest it would be a lot less money to get the EBMM splitter and then run into a DI box with a ground (earth) lift.

dont know what it costs but i am going to find it out.

a good pro DI box is also not very cheap maybe....

I got a nice Whirlwind DI box for $24 at a local music store during a "March Madness" sale. It has never disappointed me. I also have a Whirldwind IMP DI box that I paid a lot more for, and I like the other one better.

i phoned pete and he quotes 290 PDS for this special handmade unit.

price for all together: about 30.- euros (two monojacks, one stereojack, palmer di)

Cool. It's always fun to build stuff yourself. I've got a cool pic coming up for you guys by the weekend.

It's something I custom designed to fit ALL my gear so that it's all plugged in and interconnected. Available at the flick of a switch. Pretty cool.

I use a true diversity wireless for my acoustic side. doesn't affect tone at all (after the preamp). NEVER a ground loop. Allows you to cruise around now and then to hear setups.

do they still make them? the local distributor here in the uk can't ge them imported because they, apparently, don't comply with EU laws. and EB said they don't make them anymore. BP, is this true?

anyhoo, if anybody can source one for me, i'll happily snap it up right away.

thats also a good idea. no grundhum probs and no sound probs w/piezos.
i have an old VHF at home maybe i shouldt test that......
