I play a Sterling 4HH (mostly 70s funk/disco), and while I usually only have the switch set to play the bridge pickup, I'm often switching it to the middle position (all coils on). However, this is a bit too "warm" for me. I'm almost wishing I could get both bridge coils and ONE neck coil, so i get just a 'hint' of that P tone.

I've never been a big fan of the two inner/outer coil settings. I almost wish we could have the following settings on the sterling selector switch:

1) Only Bridge pickup
2) All bridge and 1 neck
3) All pickups (this is a great tone btw)
4) 1 bridge and all neck
5) Only neck pickup

Any ideas how to warm up the bridge only tone without introducing both neck pickups or losing 1 of the bridge pickups?

---Subscribed. Interesting - you're looking for EQ settings and string selection advice etc? I'm all ears. :) Though that is why I have an HS, because that's the sound I wanted. ----------------

I agree with Old Guy, my Sterling HS has that capacity plus a bunch more great tones. It rules!

I'm pretty content with my string selection and I like the larger neck pickup as I rest my thumb on it (or the E string). I guess the question really boils down to could I make EQ changes to give the desired tone. I use Pyramid roundwounds.
