Hey guys.

Just need to know when a sterling 5 can be ordered. I understand that they will be at the winter NAMM show. Does that mean that after that first day of the show one can be ordered? How about the details like size of the neck and weight? When does that stuff come out.

I am ready to order my bass now but wondering if I should wait and see what the 5 string would be like.

The local music store in Montreal is waiting to open their newest shipment. Im going to call and insist they let me know what is in the boxes. I have been waiting for 3 days for them to call. If they have a sterling to my liking I will bring it home. There is a really nice pacific blue burst in maple that I like and it plays very well. Problem is that I dont think too many extra basses are in my futur due to finances for now.

Someday I ll have my collection.

As a professional lurker, I have become obsessed with all things EB

Thanks in advanced.

I think you have time to coach a girl's hockey team into next year's playoffs ;)

ya. we haven't heard much about the Sterling 5. I dont personally remember BP saying they'll have one at winter NAMM either. but anything's possible

only thing we do know is that they'll reveal it when theyre happy with what theyve designed.

For some reason, I do think BP said something to me about having one to show at Anaheim NAMM in Jan 07.

Supposedly, you would be able to order one (or twenty or a thousand) at that time, but whoever mentioned the time frame on the Bongo introduction is thinking right.

As I've said before, the Bongos were intro'd in January 2003. The first ones didn't ship until late Oct or early Nov. If this holds true with the Sterling 5, then I wouldn't expect anyone to get their mitts on one before fall of 2007.

In other words, buy what you want now. We have lots of time yet.

The bad news: Knowing that a Sterling 5 is in the works - delays my purchase of an SR5 (I really like the smaller body of the Sterling).

The good news: I have a Sterling HS to keep me happy until then and terrific 5er from "some guy in NC" to fill my 5 needs (for now).

I will be very interested to see what comes of this.

But what I want is not available! My heart beats for a Sterling 5. Anything else would just be a fling. :D

How can it beat for a Sterling 5 when you don't even know what the details are? An SR5 has the same guts/pickups/slim neck & spacing as a Sterling. That is known. Why are you sweating what you don't even know?

Because I am willing to bet that it will be even sleeker and smaller than a Stingray 5 in terms of body shape. AND that it will have the pots accessible thru the back like the Sterling. So the pickguard will be more streamlined. Both add up to sleekness and cool looks. Just like the 4 banger Sterling.

Of course, we don't even have to discuss the sound because being a Musicman it will sound awesome.

If I recall correctly, the preamp and pickup in the StingRay5s and Sterlings are different.

Or maybe i'm just retarted.

The new SR5 has pots accessible through the back FWIW.

When the Sterling 5 becomes available I'm sure we will know as soon as it's a reality....how's that for an answer?
