Hey all.

I'm just wondering if there is any difference in the AX40s from year to year besides color?
Are the first ones released the same as this years models as far as hardware and pickups? I understand that the 2013 models will have Dimarzio pups but I'm wondering about the pre-2013 versions.

The reason I ask is that I can get a first year used model for pretty reasonable. But I'd be willing to spend more on a newer model if there have been some improvements over the years.

Thanks.

Yes they are the same, and yes, new for 2013 is that all AX30 and AX40 will now feature Made In USA DiMarzio AXIS pickups

I must say that is FAST compared to years past - hey, I'm a poet!!! :) Kudos on the fast shipping schedule! With that fast shipping schedule I'm guessing the website is due for an update SOON.... :)

Will there be a "DiMarzio" logo on the pickups or a range of serial numbers on the guitars that will denote which ones are Pre-2013 and which ones are post-2013? The addition of DiMarzio Axis pickups is the reason why I'll be buying an Ax40 and I don't want to be taken advantage of by a retailer who doesn't know when the instrument was made.

No we won't be putting a DiMarzio logo on the pickups, as they are exactly the same as the EBMM Axis Pickups.

All of the DiMarzio loaded guitars will be coming with a sticker on the body as seen in the attached picture. View attachment 21474

Additionally, if you remove the pickups from the guitar, you will see the "DiMarzio Pickups, Made In USA" stamped into the metal on the back of the pickup, as well as the DiMarzio part number. Further, if you remove the triangle cover plate from the back, there will be a paper tag on the pigtail with the US Patent numbers on it.

If you are in any question regarding this, or would like to be directed to one of our Elite Dealer Network dealers who will be carrying these, just send me an email.
