Sterling by MM PUPS

I checked the website and search but couldn't find any info on what pu's are in each model. SB14, SR4, SR5

SB14 - 3 coil ceramic magnets, humbucker MM style. Hum cancelling phantom coil, same as the USA version but made overseas with same materials, windings etc.

Ray34 - 4 string humbucking pickup, MM style, alnico magnets

Ray35 - 5 string humbucker, MM style, alnico magnets,

all the pickups utilize the same bobbins, materials and windings. Wound and assembled overseas (Korea).
Very close to the originals.

yes correct the Instruments are made and assembled in Indonesia. The parts, pickups, components are made in Korea.

I cannot hear a differance between the ray 24 and a standard EBMM Stingray.

Has anybody modded there Ray34s with a different pickup?

I noticed a difference in sound when I compared the sterling by compared to a stingray a few weeks ago in GC. Plus the sterling weighed quite a bit more. The sterling by is a step up from the olp's but not equal to a sub. IMHO.

The SBMM's are very good instruments and very very close to the real thing. However, you must find a "good" one. In my experience, some are better than others, in fit, finish and material. Especially the rosewood necks. some are beautifully grained and top quality, some are grey with sap stains... But my Ray34 is perfect and I gig it just as much as my Bongo and SR5.

Some just played better and had a "better vibe" to them in general.
