Hi Guys,

i´m new to this Forum and plan getting a Sterling AX 40 D... i had a MM EVH in the 90´s and i am aware that the AX 40D cannot keep up with the MM...that´s ok for me. BUT: i read in several forums and user reviews that it is a 50/50 chance to get a decent one..lot of people complained about Fret Buzz, Vibrato Systems going out of tune every other minute, bad frets and stuff like that..so, before i get one, i´d like to get your opinions..who has one and who can recommend it.. here in germany no store i my area has one, so i´d have to order it from the web..so try and play it is not possible. Any help greatly appreciated..

Regards,

Eddie

Welcome to the forum. I have a sterling ax40 and it's a fantastic guitar. It has none of the problems you mentioned. Frets were great and trem never goes out of tune. Ever. The Sterling guitars are probably the best value out there. Go for it and enjoy.

Hi there,

ok, thank you, this calms me a little.. i really really want that axe and since i have to order it in the states (I live in germany, and i dunno why but right now no one has this guitar in stock here..) i´d hate to get a bad one and being forced to send it back..

I also have one and it ROCKS! Frets are really nice and the trem is rock-solid. The Axis pickups in it are the real deal! Amazing sounds can be had with this guitar. I don't think you'll regret it.

ok, one more on the "Do it, dammit"- side, lool.. just too bad the 3 i found used all don´t have such a decent grain like the ones you see in the most pics..anyone knows a shop that has either a yellow or a red ruby one with an awesome grain?

Welcome to the Forum Wolfen!
Please contact our distributor for Germany, Musik Meyer. They have ordered many of the AX40D, and I'm sure that they can put you in touch with a retailer in Germany who has one.
Our US retail stores are not allowed to sell outside of the USA, as this is a violation of their dealer agreement with us, so please contact Musik Meyer.
Of course, if it is a used instrument, you can purchase from anywhere, but I would advise otherwise, especially since the "D" models are very special, as they are loaded with the proprietary Music Man "AXIS" pickups. These are the same pickups that are in the USA Axis guitars. You'll want to be sure that you are indeed purchasing a model that is loaded with these pickups.
If you have any questions about SBMM, feel free to PM me. I generally have the answers :)

Email for Philip from Musik Meyer is: [email protected]

Awesome guitars! They play almost as good as the real thing with a good setup, bridge is solid , couldnt make it go out of tune if i wanted, and i refinished the neck to have the oil wax ebmm style, and I must say it is great, and get a chrome toggle switch, and you practically have an axis.
