Hi,

I'm extremely excited about this guitar.

I've been searching the internet for a video or a review but nothing comes up. Have they started shipping yet? I know I can order them from a few places online. However nobody has added anything online.

Maybe they are all to busy playing?

Also how many db is the active boost? Does the neck compare to a standard modern tele in thickness?

Cheers

Hi,
Does the neck compare to a standard modern tele in thickness?

If this model is anything like the real EBMM ones, then it should have a small soft v profile. So no, nothing like a tele. I own a standard tele, and the neck on that is like a baseball bat in comparison to the Luke's.

Really? Mine is a Mexican Satin standard Tele and it feels VERY thin. Compared to my PRS SE.

I believe our own Pete DuBaldo has a black one for sale. He has mentioned the neck is pretty spot on to the original version. I know Brian spent lots of time with this model getting everything just right on it. They look really good. In terms of a Tele neck, I don't believe they have the same profile, but I will say that the Luke soft V profile is one of the best feeling necks out there.

The v neck was a turn off until I played it for a while. Defiantly very comfy and cozy! I like v necks and I do not lie...

Sbmm lk100d

We are proud to announce to you our newest Sterling By Music Man Artist Signature Series.

This Artist is one whose talent resides in the upper echelon of Grammy Award winning musicians, known world-wide, a true "players player".

Ladies and Gentlemen: Luke

Please welcome to our fine family of Artists, the new for 2014 Sterling By Music Man LK100D Steve Lukather Artist Signature Guitar!

Available worldwide February 2014

The new LK100D is based on the newest incarnation of the Music Man Luke III. It features two DiMarzio Luke Signature "Transitions" humbuckers, a "push-push" Active volume boost based on the original Music Man design, 5 position pickup selector, Vintage Tremolo factory set for full step and a half pulls, locking tuning machines, and will, for now, be available in Luke Blue and Metallic Black.

We have done an early roll out in Japan due to overwhelming demand.

...and yes, the neck profile is exact. Luke was blown away by the guitar when I took it to him for our photo shoot, so the proof is truly in the pudding on this one. We are looking at about an $869 USD street price, but will be finalized early January.

Hi Brian,

Will this model be available in Malaysia?

Regards,
Hillary

Saw one in a music store in Toronto the other day. It was about $950. I'd rather pay the diff for a used Luke.

I've played both versions and for what it's worth they aren't entirely the same.. Both have their own characteristics.. But what is undoubtedly noticeable is that it's a musicman design. I own almost every sterling guitar model there is and a bunch of musicman (slo) pieces including one off models that'll never be made again etc. If you can go for the American then cool. But for those who can't this LK100D is a chip off the old Block. I think musicman guitars are amazing and sterling models (sbmm) helps the player on a budget jump into a musicman comfortably. I think they do a fine job in supplying tools to all the musicians no matter what the budget. From the sub series all the way to the American ebmm models.

I just received My Sterling Luke III and just love it!! I did noticed a very drastic volume change ( No Boost engaged) when switching pickups, is this normal? For example position 5 is really loud compared to position 4.
If this is in fact normal because of the way the pickups are wired, my next question is if the original Music Man is wired the same way and the same pickup output volume is noticeable as well? I do like it! don't take me wrong but would like to understand if its normal or not.. thanks!!!!

Very interesting!

I checked the wiring schematic on both the MM Luke III and the SBMM Luke, and there appears to be a difference in the 1nd position (neck).
The MM appear to have the neck pickup in normal humbucker (serial) wiring, but the SBMM appear to have the neck pickup wired in parallel.
It could be a typo, though...
But the difference in output you are experiencing, should also happen with the MM version (position 4 = outside coils in parallel).

Brian Martin, can you shred some light on this?

Best regards
Martin
