This is my JP150! Just tossed in a set of Bare Knuckle VHII's. While I would love to have an American-made Music Man, a JP150 with upgraded pickups has to be dollar for dollar the best deal in the guitar world.

Somehow I've missed this thread. I've got a few older SBMM instruments that I can't find pics of at the moment, but this is my newest...

AL40 that Dubaldo's was clearing out a while back.
Nice guitar as is, but I couldn't help but try something different, so I bought some 'budget' GFS pickups for this 'budget' gittar, and am super impressed & happy with the results!

By the way, SBMM customer service is top notch! And I'm really digging the new colors & models for 2019...

Bringing this one from the dead. Just came across a JP70 in green burst at a local music store which happens to be the only open music store during this covid craziness. I called the guy inquiring about the guitar and he tells me is a consignment instrument. I go check it out and besides very old strings and mildly oxidized frets, there’s not a scratch in the body or neck. Played well, sounded well no crackly pots or finicky jack or 3-way switch. Only thing is the price. He wants $500 and not budging. I told him I bought a brand new one a few years ago for $500, so there’s no way I’ll pay that much for a used guitar regardless if it was ever played (he claims the owner opened the bag and tried to play it but couldn’t). So I gave him a $400 offer which I think it’s way up there considering. He said he’s going to contact the owner and relay the offer. I was firm about not offering a dollar more. I’ll go see him again tomorrow and go from there.

What’s the going price for these in good condition?

I bought a used Sterling by Music Man silo30. Really like the way the neck feels but wasn’t crazy about the pickups. Found a HSS loaded Silhouette pickguard and purchased it to drop into the Silo30. The components are there but someone had tinkered with the wiring. This pickguard has the original silent circuit(patent pending sticker on the side) and it is the rectangular black component rather than the newer cylinder component. Does anyone have a silhouette Special HSS with the rectangular silent circuit. Trying to locate detailed pictures so I can properly wire back my setup as originally wired. Also trying to determine if this requires a battery. Thanks

Found a schematic and everything looks wired correctly. Only difference is my SC in the neck is a two wire instead of a four wire shown in the diagram. So, looks like I have a correctly wired pickguard with a male 3 pin molex connector. I think I’m down to locating and purchasing the matching female molex connector and the 1/4” output jack. Based on the previous post, I also need a 9V clip and a diagram that shows how the 9V wires into the circuit. I’m assuming this will be in line with the jack so the connection is made or broken when the cable is inserted?? Is there a 1/4” jack, 9V, molex already prewired harness available for purchase? It would be nice if I could get something that would plug in and be ready. Thanks

I have the silver JP60 (has high quality locking tuners) and the white JP160 (diecast tuners). Can these tuners be swapped, one to the other, by a luthier? Comments? It is purely aesthetic.

Also, I am wondering if I can replace Schaller IND-6’s on the JP6 with the black die cast tuners of the JP160? The die cast tuners on that would look great on my JPs black headstock. And would it be a hassle to switch back the tuning machines?

*will be posting a similar thread in EBMM forum, a different situation however re: JP6 and Majesty Schaller’s

Hello, was looking at an AL40, but was thinking of converting to sss. When you got under the pickguard, was it a swimming pool route? Thanks

EBMM and Sterling knobs are not interchangeable, but within each line they are. JP60 and JP160 knobs swapped, JP6 and Majesty swapped just fine. Was really hoping to get the jp160 black knobs on my jp6 but the lord sayeth to me thou shall not be cuttin that corner.

Cannot express how grateful I am to have found this site!

Been big on Fenders and enjoy my diagonal offsets and smaller bodies but always looking for a smaller bodied guitar that didn't kick my forearm/elbow way forward or weigh 8+ pounds... and then...

Recently found the Silhouette... Could it be the holy grail of a guitar it seems???

Just purchased a Silo20 to see if it matches my desires as much as I think it will... Exciting!!! YAY!

Then discovered JP60, Luke, and Majesty... Oh what a journey this is going to be!!!

Glad to be here and looking forward to getting to know everyone!

Sterling really should have it's own Topic Board... not simply a single thread. But that's just my opinion.

Glad to be here!

Aloha JM,

Nice job on finding a Silhouette loaded pickguard! (Actually, kinda jealous... Great find!)

I love the molex connector idea. Did you get the info on which wires go where in the connector?
Could you share ?

Mahalo!
